I havenīt seen planes in SH3

I am in my 6th patrol, may 29 1940, and yet i havenīt seen a plane apart from squadrons of german ones at Wilhelmshaven. I suppose thy do not fly with bad weather because that has been more of my 70% of playing time. (Iīm an expert in sinking ships without seeing them because of this:up: )
I do not want to engage them, but it seems strange.

I began my carrer with GWX 1.3 and then moved to GWX2.1 in my 5th patrol.

Welcome.

Depends where you've been. Have you been within 200 klicks or so of the English coast? If so, you should have seen aircraft, as long as you're not running in high TC, which tends to result in missing them. Have a look at the convoy route map which also shows air cover. Air coverage roughly pre-41 is quite limited in range.

edit/add: And obviously if you have bad weather, that will cut down on sightings.

don't worry they'll find you just let them the time to invent the radar and you won't ever be such impatient to see them believe me http://www.emoticonland.net/smileys/...xpresss001.gif

We sank em all during testing

In the early years they are not as abundant as in mid 43 onwards, but believe me....they are out there.

usually you might first come across one if a Brit ship spots you and signals for help.

You will see very few planes at high TC.

Any time compression above 128x will reduce the number of planes.

Personally I don't go above 512x at any time and not above 256x when near Biscay or a enemy coast.

This is a stock bug/issue.

That's strange. I've always seen one around 1939...I average one every patrol. In stock SH3 I used to see a lot of Hurricans in GWX they tend to be those small 3 man bombers..not sure what they're called. I also get them in high TC but they get real close and when the box comes to warn you of an enemy plane and what you want to do...they are already on top of my sub. Otherwise on low TC my watch crew spots them a mile off and I can dive safely...never had a problem with planes.

get within 90 KM of Lerwick and fire off a status report, if the weather is good you can usually expect an air attack within a matter of a few hours

 Avro Anson is what they're called, you also bring up another good reason for keeping the TC at 256 or 128 with the planes being right on top of you...

as for never having problems with planes, I'd like to add one word....

.....yet......

:D

In a few career years, when you are diving every 2 hours to avoid planes and fearing the sunlight, you will wonder why you ever posted this.

correct.

start a career out of one of the french bases and play the game at 512x compression or lower... you will be getting jumped every couple of hours in game

edit: do the above in 1943

Here on U 45 its mid 1940 and we wer attacked by two planes two patroals ago on are way to Narvik. Luckly we shot them down.:yep:

Rommer69 07-28-08 04:11 AM

Maybe apart from the bad weather, high TC is the other explanation.
I donīt want to see them, it is just insane curiosity.

I meant never having had a problem at SEEING one yet...sorry should've been clearer. Oh no...I avoid planes...in fact I've never engaged one in my life...I have no illusions about my ability to engage planes...and what to do with them...DIVE!!!
