Australian submarine testfires new MK-48 variant at US destroyer, and hit it, and hit it hard indeed.

That one's a bit different from the one we're all used to seeing. Nice to old ships put to new uses - even if only once.

That would be the HMAS Waller torpedoing the Spruance-class Destroyer USS David R. Ray, right?

It seems the video was cut, there is time missing between impact scene and the sinking of the forward half. Can the pictures of how the ship is getting broken into two parts have any critical intel value?

Doubt it, they probably thought people would get bored watching the whole thing

As of now, wikipedia hasn't caught up to the news, but they do have a rather lovely picture of the Ray in happier times.
