New Graphics Card Issue - Please Help
Hello everyone,
I hope someone can offer some advice here. I have just upgraded my graphics card from an ATI 6100 (basic card) to a NVIDIO EN9600GT. It seems to work fine with online games but will not open my SH3. Everytime I try, it gets to an almost complete load bar prior to the 'not so long ago' screen and then crashes. I am in port and about to start patrol 8. I am running GWX2.1 with a multitude of Mods including SH3 Commander, Weather and SH3 Generator. These were all running fine before I installed the new graphics card. Has anybody else experienced this and how did you solve it? Or is there some setting that I must change so that it recognises the new card - if so would somebody be able to give me instructions? I am running a VISTA system. Any help appreciated. Regards |

Try to reinstall SH3 from scratch, it might help.. |
I don't know Nvidia jazz but before you installed the drivers for your new card I'm wondering if you uninstalled the ati-catalyst. There is a utility that removes all trace driver elements, not just from add/remove.

Hi everyone,
Thanks very much for the great advice but unfortunately, this appears not to be a free disk clean device:cry:. I become very concerned when a site supposedly provides a free service only to then insist on you becoming a member. Are there any other suggestions out there which may be able to help me?. Regards |
I have tried the advice, including the disk cleaner and I am now a lot poorer. I have been unable to open the disk cleaner and I am also unable to open SH-3 (I have sound but a black screen at the entry menu screen). I have also tried installing SH-4 and have the same problem. Any advice appreciated as it looks like early retirement is in the offing.

Might be a shot in the dark but set 3D to high performance in the setup utility which comes with the driver installed. Then turn on advanced settings and play with the profile settings of sh3 to get a descend balance between performance and quality. Depending which supermode im playing i set AA 16q or 8q, supersampling, tripple buffering, dynamic shadow and 1280x1024 in the main.cfg with a 8800gtx. Even with this gfxcard i got a black screen and CTD after loading with standard 3D setting to high quality.

It dies in a career but does it go ok in both Museum & Naval Academy?:-?

Hi.I had and still have a problem like that but it doesn't crash i just wait and it loads after about 5mim.
Does your game crash or jam if its jam on the loading screen then you might need to wait a few mins. I also run GWX2.1 on Vista:ping: |
Hi Guys,
Great advice but not there yet, I have played around with the resolution settings and changed the card setting from Quality to Performance. I can now open SH3 and I can start an academy mission and also the museum but, if I try a single mission the load bar gets to about half way and then it crashes. Any ideas guys? Regards |
Hello K Gunz, i think i had the same problem as you. I disabled in jsgme the location for holtenau and brunsbeattel locks. Then the problem was gone. I hope it helps you also.

Hi Nascar,
Thanks for the advice. I am running an unmodded patched to 1.4 version at the moment and I have nothing installed in JSGME. I don't think the problem is the same as yours. Thanks anyway. Regards |
