Load game crashing
 

Jan 1944, Just attack and destroy a task force with a Casablanca, With only 2 tail torps left, I decided to take the magic capet and go home to Brest. As soon as I am in port, My boat have NO crew. Apparantly, everyone deserted. Looks like I have to recruited a entire green crew to start over again.

So I try to load the last save before I reach base, the game crashed, everytime. These have happened before, in my experience, some saved games just can't be loaded, these games will crash SH3 everytime just when I see a shadow of my command room... (after "not too long ago") other games will load fine though, I have no idea which save can be loaded and which can not. Even during the same patrol some save can't be load while others can.

Whether the game can be loaded has not relation to whether enemy presence is nearby or whether the boat is under water.

I have the same problem now and then. It is very frustrating sometimes.
Up till now, I can't get my finger on what's causing the crashes.

I've also had the same problem in previous versions of GWX, but can't recall having any loading problems in stock 1.4b.

The problem, I believe, comes from the memory.:hmm:
GWX loads so much data (new ships, ports, aircraft, textures) into the games it overloads the RAM.:hmm:
Or maybe your RAM cards are old, it solved the problem for me.:up:

One of your saves was too close to a boat, airplane, or land. It could be any save up to and including your last. The only thing to do is go back and start loading saves until you find one that works. Sucks, but that's SH3 for you. :-?

Some game will give me the problem even when I am surface with no one arround (1024x smooth). Some will load while I have sound contact with convoy. It's a very unpredictable problem.

Yes you are right indeed about saving too close to AI or land. I learned that the hard way, having a great time inside a convoy...then I saved the game in there. Loading it again caused a CTD. Now I make sure I'm in the middle of nowhere before I save, no problems.

Also once I added a mod while at sea, CTD when loading the saved game. So don't do that ;)
