England is finished

When I see news like this it only gives me more evidence that I am 100% right to say this country is finished and going down the pan. Why did no one step in to help the police? Answer, walk by sociality. :nope:

Police injured in litter mob attack

Two officers were injured when they were attacked by a mob after asking a teenage girl to pick up some litter she dropped.
Up to 30 teenagers attacked the two policemen after the teenager refused their request and became aggressive.
One of the officers required hospital treatment for a bite wound after the attack in North End, central Croydon, south London, on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said violence was sparked after the patrolling officers confronted the teenage girl at about 3pm.
They asked her to pick up a piece of litter which she did, but immediately dropped it on the ground again. When they asked her to pick it up again a friend with the girl became aggressive towards the officers.
A group of up to 30 teenagers gathered around the officers and attacked them. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the officers, aged 34 and 29, were on sick leave suffering from bruising and knee injuries.
A 15-year-old girl was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault. She has been released on police bail.
Two men aged 34 and 38, both from South Norwood, were arrested on suspicion of assault and violent disorder on Thursday.
Inspector Simon Ellingham said officers were examining CCTV footage from the area. He said: "We have heard from several retailers in the area who were horrified at the level of violence used by the crowd against the officers.
"If you were in North End, central Croydon, at around 3pm on Wednesday and saw anything of the incident, or have any information, please get in touch."

It is asking a lot to expect one civilian to wade in and fight 30 teenagers. I would have hoped that someone called for additional police to respond.

As civic minded as I am, I don't think I would have tried to take on 30 violent teenagers

the risk of being a victim is at its lowest ever level

The BCS showed the risk of being a victim of crime has fallen from 24 to 22%, the lowest level recorded since the survey began in 1981.

The annual crime report for 2007-2008 reveals the longest recorded period of falling crime - down 48% from 1995.
It shows there were five million recorded crimes. All the main categories were down, including violent crime and sex offences, but drug offences were up 18%, gun crime was up 2% and murder was up 3%.

Are yes fiddled figures from the police who are under orders from the government, I'm talking about the high ranking lame officers not the PC on the beat who will tell you a different story.

Try living down here in the south of England where knife crime is never out the news. And what's that I see on todays news? Another stabbing what a surprise, not. I don't believe a word from this illegal useless government that has sold this country out to the devil.

Why are figures from hospitals not included on the knife crime figures? Reason is this, the bloody government knows those figures would cause a backlash in there direction.

Steed the BCS is not from the Police its independant and records crimes that were not reported tio the police.

From their website:

Quote:

The BCS measures the amount of crime in England and Wales. This includes crimes which may not have been reported to the police, or recorded by them. It thus provides an important alternative to police recorded crime statistics. Without the BCS the government would have no information on these unreported crimes. The BCS also helps identify those most at risk of different types of crime. This is used in designing and informing crime prevention programmes. It is also used to assess people's attitudes to crime and towards the Criminal Justice System. It is one of the major sources of information about levels of crime, public attitudes to crime and other Home Office issues.

Thats the problem, knife crime is never out of the news, the media's obssession with crime is fueling yet another public panic about crime.

Its interesting that crime has been falling since 1995 when it peaked, two years before Labour came to power.

I'm not panicking, I just want to see some real results and not this half ass rubbish put out by the Home Office.

Back to the story of the two officers, this goes and shows you what has gone wrong with this country. We have the most useless and weak politicians I have ever seen to date, there all a bloody disgrace to my country. In the name of true democracy its time to stop farting around and wake up to restore what we have lost. Faith in true democracy and law & order.

Its time to mend broken Britain and grasp the nettle even if it makes are hand bleed.

mrbeast 07-18-08 07:56 AM

Theres no such thing as 'broken Britain'. The country has problems certainly, but when has it not? Things have been worse in the past; unemployment has been higher, the economy has been in worse shape, Crime has been higher.

If there is anything wrong in the country, then its the increasing economic gap between the rich and the poor, but I don't see much in the media about that?

Walk on by sociality, blinkered. :nope:

Excuse me I have to attend to a legal matter in court.

Konovalov 07-18-08 09:40 AM

@ Steed   You are too predictable. I saw this story in The Times this morning and thought about posting it here. Then I thought to myself that good old Steed has probably already done so. Now I pop over to Subsim GT forum and sure enough you have.

Letum 07-18-08 09:43 AM

Every time Steed sees some tragic news he jumps with glee at the chance to post
yet another 'England's going to hell in a handcart' post and rave with moral indignation.

Tchocky 07-18-08 12:15 PM

Read in th'Independent this morning that fewer teens are drinking/smoking/using drugs.

Good news.

The thing is if you did wade in and you actually hurt one of the little bastards the police would arrest you for it...

This is the result of the police's own job protection policies

UnderseaLcpl 07-18-08 03:53 PM

I'm going to side with Steed on this, if for no other reason than that nobody seems to agree with him.

While I doubt England will become the first nation in history to collapse because of teenagers who will not pick up litter, civil disobedience of this type is often an indicator that one feels repressed and powerless in the face of their government's daily influence on their lives. It also indicates the lack of respect for law enforcement officials, or more probably, the laws they enforce.

Were this incident to be repeated in differing forms on a significant scale, it would indubitably herald at best, political backlash, and at worst, insurrection.

England has a long and proud history of pissing off either its own populace, the rest of Europe and moreso than either of those, Scotland. I will not specifically mention their disputes with Ireland as the Irish seem to be pissed about something all the time. America is honored to fulfill two-thirds of this great legacy, but can probably find a way to piss off Scotland as well if required.

As far as their own populace is concerned, England seems suffering from a condition known as "socialism", which is fairly common in Europe. Early symptoms include wanting everyone else to pay for your stuff, and a complete misunderstanding of economics. The most dangerous symptom of this condition is that you feel fine at first, but then collapse under debt and social upheaval, just like every nation that contracts "socialism".

This incident, when coupled with all the other stories of bad news in England provided by Steed, does seem to indicate the onset of harmful symptoms of "socialism".

Equally worrisome is that the United States has slowly contracted "socialism" over the years. There is strong evidence that "socialism", combined with a large and uneducated populace, leads to Soviet Unions.

In summation, I feel Steed's concerns do warrant his belief in England's imminent collapse to some degree. The contrary opinion, that "everything is fine, we just have some tweaking to do", led to England's original collapse, the collapse of every Authoritarian government in history, the imminent collapse of those that still exist and their current economic problems that will, shortly, result in their collapse, the collapse of the Roman Empire, and the glorious People's prosperity of North Korea and Cuba.

Sadly for Steed, America's collapse will be #1 because we're America.
