Do destroyers have super sensitive IR detectors or something?

:p

I am chillin out at 392 feet, engines off... silent running turned on. And they come over me and drop DC with excellent accuracy as if someone on my sub is taking a little hammer and hitting the side of the hull to let them know where I am.

No pinging was used, so I assume he was relying on passive sonar.

What gives?:88)

I am using TMO w/RSRD mods as an FYI.

Normal as in the mod designed the DDs to do this... or something that cannot be corrected?

Normal as in the mod allows escorts to do that. I find subchasers are particularly hateful. TMO is designed to bring fear back into submarine simulation. Works well, no?

Also remember that in real life you can't "sit" anywhere - the boat will either begin to rise or to sink. True neutral bouyancy is impossible to maintain, so you either move or balance the tanks by running the pumps, which is noisier than moving.

Also the us boat captains got to know it's noisier to have 2 e-engines hat low spead. Better to have a high running single e-engine working.

There's a bit of trivia I didn't know ;)! If you know off-hand what your source for that information is, I'd like to know :hmm:. It does make sense though. I'm just always looking for new material to learn something more.

Cheers!

You can change the AI's sensitivity settings. It'c covered in the FAQ with TMO and on the TMO thread (First Post)

I set them back to "Easy" mode. Yet I'll still occasionally get that destroyer who finds me sitting at 560 and crawling ahead at 1/2 knot.
