enemy Freighter broken into two parts after 1 shoot?
I just sunk a greece "Old Raked Bow Split Merchant" of 6605 tons. Shoot 3 torpedos. One missed, one hit and one dud. But the freighter broke into 2 parts a very short time after the torpedo hit. The torpedo (G7e) run in a depth of 2 meters. So no magnetic impact. Also the torpedo exploded in the rear part and not the middle of the ship.
My question: Is any mod causing this unrealistically behaviour? I've installed TMO, RSRD, OM and some sound mods. Or is this quite realistically as this was a old freighter?:hmm: |
It was a single merchant without any ammo. Maybe I hit the sweet spot, but the freighter won't break into 2 parts like a explosion under the freighter? Or am I wrong?

Are you sure that freighter wasn't carrying munitions/fuel/avgas internally/externally?
Such situations can turn these ships into floating bombs |
At least I can say, the merchant hasn't had any ammo.
mh... as I'm thinking about it, it makes sence. Hit the fuel bunker and good bye.:arrgh!: Thanks to you both:up: |

A lot of Merchant ships hauled ammo during WWII, how else would you move it? |
:rotfl: that's a word. Lufthansa Cargo wasn't avail at these days...
I imagine a story where U-159 under the command of Kaleun Helmut Witte attacked an ammo ship from a distance of 250meters. The book says it was a 8000 tons freighter. After 30second nothing was left of the merchant. And the effect was... let's say so: the book writes, that another submarine in a distance of 140kilomters said, they felt a strong wind and saw a thick cloud of smoke. I needn't to mention, that anything within the submarine was depredated and all glass was broken. The attack took place south of capetown in late august '42. |
