HS AVEROF underway 100 years after her launching (under tow actually :)) ! How do you find this??

Makes you wonder what you're gonna do if you come across her in the Med. I haven't yet.

If you want to find the Averof try the entrance to the Suez Canal. "Uncle George" is sitting there guarding the area and flying the flag of the Hellenic Navy High :yep:  |
HOT DAMN!:o
That is indeed a lovely sight to see. Early steel-era ships are my favorite. Congratulations on having such a treasure still around. |
Great pics
so you're Greek geosub? πατριώτης ? |
That is really a beautiful ship! I have to agree with Steve on this; It's truly a treasure! Thanx for posting this, geosub1978!

To anyone who is confused or unaware from the posting above... The Averof is included in GWX and keeps to its historical locations and travels.
(Awesome work VonHelsching and Co!) |
The Averof is the last Armored Cruiser still afloat, right?
Beautiful ship :D |
They don't build warships like they used to...:shifty:
Nice find! |
Averof-aurora
Yes it is the last afloat armored cruiser.
Here AVEROF as flagship leads the rest three greek pre-drednaughts to the desicive battle of LEEMONS (January 1913) http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/7...anikoisff3.jpg And here is of the equal historiacl value the Russian light cruiser AURORA. A survivor of Tsusima and participating in the Octoberzka Revolutzija! Now still afloat! http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/34/aurorarzxs0.jpg |
One of my friends who is a commercial diver recently got to dive underneath the USS Olympia, a protected cruiser, to check on the structural integrity of the ship. A real beautiful one as well!
