Newbie needs guidance
Hi everyone
Just bought the game, seems much more complicated and involved than I thought, which I'm pleased with actually. I like games that are more demanding, but my minds spinning wondering were to start. Has anyone written a 'guide for idiots' to get them started? Regards Tony |
Some good stickied guides at the top of the list in this forum.
I'd suggest that you start pretty much as I started on SH3 though (as I had a damn load of fun doing it). Play the tutorials, then start a career on a slightly low realism setting. It's pretty much up to you how hard a time you'll want starting - I'd suggest having map contact updates enabled (as finding ships can be hard without it) and steering clear of manual targeting for now (it's a really good challenge to hit something with manual, but when starting out just getting your boat in a good position to fire torpedoes is challenge enough imo ... I know that it was for me). You'd probably also like to have external cam for now (good for gaping at the graphics as well as for getting the feel of what destroyers do when they try to catch you). When you get used to your realism setting you can slowly remove the various helping tools and features (you can do this when you're in port so you won't have to start a new campaign every time you want to change). Oh and welcome to the forum btw! |

I guess i have shooted more than 20 times on a stationarry target (2nd tutorial mission i think) before moving on to the moving target. Just experiment with the game. Even a dom ass like me can play the game at high level in a couple of weeks. |

That is a good question. I'd be surprised if nobody's written one somewhere. |
first learn to navigate, practice turning at all speeds till you know how long it takes to come about, and how long to stop turning
guns are pretty easy and same with torpedos (auto target) , tell your crew to do it! lol I use auto mode because I just don't wanna take the time or do math but a tutorial would be nice... |

A guide ? Everybody have to learn from himself, because if you encouter a problem that wasn't in the guide you will become to dependent from it. A search on the forum can give you a lot of information. Try these keywords: tutorial, AOB, navigation, (in combination with problem :p), and so on .. Have fun exploring the game i would say. You can also look at movies at youtube wich i did a lot before i played. Then you know a little the routine that goes on before the actual fire. |
