How to destroy mines?

I played a mission with the FFG called "Al Faw Ambush". I had to escort a freighter through a minefield. There were floating mines which could be destroyed with the machine gun - although this is really difficult and somehow a bit ridiculous.

But I do not have a clue how to destroy moored mines on the seafloor.

With a torpedo? I could not classify the mines as a target to fire something on them. I had them on my passive hull sonar display and I could mark them. On the map display the showed up as a white cross with a tag but I could not engage them.

Any clues? :arrgh!:

While it isn't very realistic, a torpedo will acquire mines. Just fire a snapshot or target a manual contact at the location of the mine, and it'll acquire.
