In this way the same book can earn donations many times over and continue the fight against this horrible disease. My wife was taken eight years ago.

10 books generating a $10 donation every two weeks = over $2500 per year
10 books per month for a year = a lot of money to fight Cancer.
Circulating books = endless donations.:rock:

The only problem is...I need help to make this a reality.:smug:

Which Cancer Society are you referring to?

I already donate more than enough for someone with my constraints - i figure its an investment, everyone older than my parents on both sides have all been riddled with cancers..

It is a worth cause. Perhaps you might pass on the information. Not everyone gives but might change their mind for a new idea. WE all read.

We all have contacts. I have no money for marketing so depend on folks to spread the information among their email and other contacts.

All help is greatly appreciated. Some just donate their time.

I will donate royalties to the Canadian Cancer Society. Each book has a last page asking readers to donate totheir local chapter. I also ask them to pass the book along to someone else.

In that way, each book can continue the fight. It doesn't matter who finds a cure, and all nations have patients who are helped by the local Society chapter.

Cancer is a disease that knows no borders and affects all races, colours, creeds, ages, and sex.

Help me spread the word, will you?

Just did some sniffing around and the Canadian Cancer Society seems to be a most worthy charity. Congratulations on picking a good one and the best of luck in your noble efforts. :up:

Thanks. The Canadian Society was very helpful with my wife's treatment. We didn't pay for any chimo, nothing for anti-nausea drugs, nothing for nurse visits to our home, nothing for a wig, and nothing for a hospital bed for our living room. She wanted to die at home.

The Society is more than just info and donation drives.

More options for payment would be nice, but I don't know what they charge to get in with paypal or some of those other companies. Also, a "donate" button would help. I was just going to donate, because I typically don't read fiction, but then I figured, well, no button, I'll just buy the book. Then Lulu asked me for account info and frankly I have enough junk mail from other payment services and accounts I had to create. I care, but I'm lazy. Like most Americans.

I'm not a media expert but I always hear exposure,exposure,exposure.

Finally, a diversification of product assets may help as well. I think a good submarine novel would sell some more of us, or at least me. I probably would have put up with another pay-system account for that.

PM me or post here if you have a donation system or write another book, or if you can convince me to use Lulu. I can't give a whole lot but I'm always up for a 10-20 dollar donation to a worthy cause. I'm just not up to giving my credit card info to companies I've never heard of.

I will also bump this occasionally to help with exposure. Somehow, this is the first time I've seen this post.

Good luck and thank you for your work to help cancer victims and promote literature simultaneously.

edit; P.S. the thread title could use a revamp as well. Something that appeals to readers and charitable souls who want to fight cancer. Maybe that's why I missed this thread for so long.

Maybe those who don't read SF or fiction could think of someone they know for a gift idea. My goal is to get the books circulating to increase the donation level. If each book is read 15-20 times in it's lifetime, it might earn a dozen or more donations from them.

I think for me to ask for donations via Paypal or similar system would require me to issue receipts, register as a charity, I don't know. I just want to let the book do its thing, and write something else.

Anyway...I'm just starting out and may have a sub book down the pike a bit.

According to Lulu, they use your email address to confirm your purchase. This is a normal practice with shopping cart systems.:up:

I'm a risk candidate for lung cancer since I smoke pipes, cigars, and the occasional cigarette. Don't know if I'll get it or not. My uncle smoked his entire life and lived to be 89. It's genetics.

Ok you convinced me. I just hope I don't get any junkmail from Lulu. Payday is tommorrow, look for an order/donation shortly thereafter.

Okay I got the downloaded version so I could have something to read immediately. For some reason it wouldn't let me change the quantity. It was my intention to buy it 6 times.
Get a donation thing because I would rather not go through the whole rigamaroo again.
I must say that whilst perusing the first chapter the quality of the writing struck me as very good. If the rest follows suit I may finish it tonight. Then I might order the physical book.

Thanks. I don't think they ever expected someone to download 6 copies of a download. You may GIVE away your copy with a recommendation, but don't sell it. I hope you do enjoy it, order the paper copy, and circulate that too.

Thanks. Hey guys...if I sell 10 books that's about $20 royalties. If those 10 books are circulated 10 times each in a year, and generate $10 donation to Cancer, they will earn $1000 for research and 100 readers for me.

Now if I sell 10 books a month...:p
