ive waited a long time for these
Eight years on and finally lay my hands on the imagies of the inside of the kursk submarine after she was raised.
Kursk was an Oscar II SSGN cruise missile submarine based in Gadzhievo northern fleet 7th submarine division (although she moved around alot) she had a crew of 118 men including several civilians she cost $1 billion to build and theres 12 in her class. She is the largest attack submarine ever to put to sea displaceing 24,000 tonnes an 505feet long 82 feet wide and a draft of 36 feet she can make 33 knots when submerged her main design is carrier battle group destruction. So im willing to share here you go: http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...rsk/kursk1.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...nsidekursk.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m.../insidecp4.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...rsk/kursk3.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...rsk/kursk4.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...rsk/kursk5.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m.../kurskbits.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m.../kursksail.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...kurskstuff.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...k/kurskukn.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...sk/lookout.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ursk/ssn19.jpg |

Thanks for posting, kapitan |
Ouch, I knew the Kursk explosion was bad, Didn't know it was THAT bad
|
bear in mind this is without compartment one the torpedo room a good 30 foot of the submarine is missing imagine the state that area would be in.
|
That bad, huh?
Those Russians do build big subs! Thanks for sharing this amazing pics! |
When was she raised?
|
Is that the reactor with all the foam ?
|
What a mess.
|
I think that's damaged beyond repair.:dead:
I hope there were no parts of the sailors in it anymore. |
I think "sunk" would be a better term
Did they find evidence to confirm the H2O2 theory in the end? |
What compartments are we looking at?It would be interesting to do a before and after comparison.
|
Gave me the shivers that. I'm guessing the foamy bit is actually the missile tubes, if so, then is that an automatic feature? If there is an emergency the missile tubes are flooded with foam to prevent a fire and missile fuel explosion ala K-219? If so it's a good idea
