Saves problem

Heya

I have problems with saving the game. Everytime when I save the game and I am in middle of ocean and than I try to load this save strange things happens. Example: I save game with heavy storm and when I load this save there is nice weather:sunny: but the worst thing is that after restart the game I can't load this save, game crashes. Anyone can tell me what is wrong and how I can fix it ?

Those are mods which I use:

RFB
RSRD
ROW

Cheers

Saving during a storm

I believe this can only be avoided by not saving during a storm or at depth. I've NEVER saved during bad weather and have not had a problem with loading saved games. I've read some posts similar to yours and the expert opinion seems to be to not save during a storm as it causes the issues you have described.
Probably not the answer you were hoping for but hopefully will help you to avoid this problem in future.

Nonsense.

Your problems are probably a mod. The stock game has no problems saving and restoring saves in any kind of weather and at any depth. Myself and many others who still play the stock game have reported over and over on this forum there are no problems saving and restoring games. None. I have done so uncounted hundreds of times. Not one problem. Not one.

There is one exception to take into consideration on the weather. It's possible for the weather to change while saving. When the weather system has been commanded to clear and calm, it doesn't do so instantly, but begins a slow transition. If you save during this transition, you may get the clear and calm soon after restoring.

Failed restores though point to:
1) You have an undetected failure in your computer system
2) You have mods which are conflicting with the game operation.
3) You tried to restore a save game which was created before upgrading to a new official update version.

In SH III it was tricky (meaning almost impossible) to save a game unless you jumped through a bunch of hoops first. :shifty: You had to save while surfaced...ect...ect...ect...do a search for details.

I have not found that to be the case with SH IV. True I have not played as extensivley as I did in SHIII but at least several times now I have successfully saved and loaded ...while in combat...submerged...in storms.

Of course there is always the possibility that I have just been doding the bullet and my luck will run out. :hmm: It could be your mods...I'm not running any other than a few minor changes I did myself and 2 selections from PE.

If you find out for certain that it is the mods that would be a nice piece of news to share with all of us...but I would have to think that if it were mod related this would have made forum headlines long before now. :-?

I made few tests and looks like it happens only with RFB mod. I use RFB_v1.5_060308.

It happens on new saves, not on older. I started new carrier when I upgraded to 1.5 from 1.4. I think it's not problem with my computer system as Pv suggested. Have no idea what's wrong...

Mods or no mods, it seems the longer you are out on a war patrol, the more likely something will go wrong with a save game. That's just my experience.
