Exactly 64 Years Ago Today...

http://www.airbornepress.com/

Shame on this forum! I'm amazed that nobody mentioned this today. I kept on waiting and waiting and waiting, but nothing!

Really is something, isn't it? If we live long enough to see June 6, 2044, what will we say when we look back on it? I'd imagine all the World War II veterans will be dead (unless futuristic medicine has kept them going), and World War II will become just as forgotten as World War I. What new conflicts will we see... that is, if the human race even exists by then?

If I live that long... I'll be 87 years old...:o

I know. :yep:

You wait for next years, a must to be posted.

I don't think anyone really forgot this anniversary, it is just that 64 is not a common anniversary to call attention to. 60 and 65 would be more common.

I certainly didn't forget about it but given the normal anti-American sentiment around here I figured few people would care to hear about it.

You must be one of the people who think the US won the war all by ourselves. Or maybe Sword, Juno and Gold beaches never existed.

It's not Americans that most people object to, it's jingoistic better-than-everybody-else sentiments like that one that they dislike.

Again nothing that i said even hinted I thought we were better than anyone else.

Now how about giving me an apology you jerk?

Sailor Steve 06-06-08 07:28 PM

You flatly stated that you declined to mention D-Day because of the "normal anti-American sentiment around here". I think it's you who owes an apology to just about everyone.
