Government to apologise to Vietnam veterans

About blardy time. And to think she once was a anti Vietnam war protester now she's apologising :yep:. Well its a start for the kiwi vets here.

Quote:

The government will offer a formal apology to Vietnam veterans and their families on Wednesday.
The apology will take place at Parliament.
Prime Minister Helen Clark says the apology will recognise the veterans were not treated fairly on their return to New Zealand after the war in Vietnam.
She says the apology was agreed to in a memorandum of understanding between the government, ex-Vietnam Services Association, and the RSA.
Veterans will be further acknowledged during commemorative events next weekend. Tribute 08 will include a civic welcome in Wellington and a parade. Much of Tribute 08 will be broadcast live on TVNZ7.

Thats nice but what does it mean for the vets?

it might have a better meaning if they made some positive financial adjustment to their pensions when they draw them.
