right now Im tailing a convoy through the english chanel... Ive sunk the HMS Nelson (gross tonnage was around 30k). I only have enough torps to take out her and the 2 escorts, the roving patrols and great weather along wit the shallow depths of the chanel made excape impossible. I tried hiding under her after she went down...eight more ships came up to crap DCs on me. The game CTD while I was under water, soooo I have a second chance here.

Am I the only person who has played SH3 for years and never even seen the Nelson? :cry:

If you're after the Nelson, try the north western corner of Gibraltar harbour around 1940/41.

This was a southern bound convoy that had 3 escorts and warships in every port through the channel. I tried several times :damn: , but could not add her to my list of kills... just too many ships gunning for me. I have already sunk 6 ships in the channel... and used the top straight line speed of the ship to escape. If I try to sink the nelson, I cannot get out alive. :nope: Soooo, after playing this part a more than a few times...I conceded to let her make her trip down to Gibraltars. I guess Ill have to be happy with just seeing her on this trip.

Oh yeah, the date is April 25, 1940... would it be safe to assume that was her final trip through the channel?

Of all the time that I have played, I have yet to sink a CV, BB, CA, BC, etc. I have sunk a AuxCA, a CL, and many DDs. :)

Update....
after giving up on the HMS Nelson, I was blessed with this little blossum grossing at 6800 tonns as I exited the channel...they never knew what hit them. Took her around 45 min to go under and I watched her roll to port hoping to see a ship capsize upon sinking.

I sank the Nelson (or Rodney, can't remember now without looking back) in the middle of a convoy back in GWX1.something. Lived to tell the tale too...;)

Nelson is in a task force that crosses Diagonally across the AN gride to the chanel in 1940 using GWX2.1

one of the options Im considering (I backed up my config files) is making a high speed run for the west exit of the channel and ambushing the convoy when they exit the channel. There are alot of boats on patrols after i sank 6 ships prior to seeing the nelson. I just dont know if I can make it to the other end of the channel before the convoy. Ill play it through someday when Im board...see what happens.
