another quick question

I started a new career in 43' and it seems that everytime i get a radio signal intercept, after a couple of minutes my watch will spot a plane very far away. However I can't tell how far it is because when I click on the show nearest visual contact, my WO says theres no contact. The box saying "aircraft spotted" just repeatedly pops up 3-4 times before my watch takes any notice of it. And by that point, its almost on top of me

Using gwx 2.1
16km atmosphere

thanks in advance

edit: it seems the METOX interferes somehow. Without a radioman on the METOX, the "aircraft spotted" sensor acts perfectly normal.

any ideas?

i have never asked my WO to report an air contact so I dont know if that is something that they do. but I do know that when an aircraft is spotted it is generally very close, so unless you plan to fight it out it is best to dive. :o

When in doubt, dive quickly!
I have never hung about to find out the details. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Dive as quickly as possible. When an aircraft appears you've got as little as 10 seconds before it's upon you.

if im not mistaken... the METOX actually increased your boats surface signature and the chances of being spotted (due to RF frequencies emitted during use). I read in "iron coffins" that it was in use for a very short while and was ordered not to be used any more after late spring in 1943. Im just going off memory here, so if someone else can add some dates or offer any further insight or corrections, fire away.
