Type VIIC in GWX 1.2 does not dive...?
This is strange, I just got up to a Type VIIC and it will dive but really slow and if I go to 80m it only goes down to 30m then back up to about 15m. I will not dive to 160m it only dives to 60m then it goes back up to 40m. this is really strange, I never saw this before. Does anybody else have this problem..? any info would be great, thank you.
Sorry, I tried to delete this but not sure how..? I no this is the wrong place for me to ask about this.....sorry again. If the admin could remove this please. sorry again guys.:damn: Sorry for my mistake, I mean GWX 2.1 |
Hi, my question may be stupid: at what speed you was cruising?
because i had also problems in U-boot manouvering at speed below 2knots! For this reason i change my depth at 3-4 knots, and than i reduce at 2knots when i reach the ordered depth. bye! s |
This could be due to the Positive Buoyancy Mod included with the installation. Also baffled me at first but then again, I forgot to RTFM!!!!

Yes, in GWX 2.1 it will dive down to 160m and stay there at full power but then when I get down to 160m and then back off to 1/3 power up I go to sometimes 40m and sometimes to 20m. I can not keep a steady depth at 1/3 power. The IIA/VIIB and IXB will stay at any depth down to 160m at 1/3 power in GWX 2.1. Thank you for the replies.:)

Edit the .sim file with S3D
Put the mass = displacement value. |
I changed it to Displacement (surfaced) 761 tons to = mass. It was 760 so I guess just one number fixed it because I got out onto the Nordsee and changed the depth to 60m and it was right on at 1/3 power, it could not do that before. I have not got out to deep water but I think it's going to work ok Philipp_Thomsen. :) I was not sure what displacement to do, the (submergé) is 865 tonnes but I used the surface displacement instead. WoW..! that S3D program is really cool, thank you for the info Philipp_Thomsen. I hope I did it the right way but so far it's working ok.
I got to go down to 160m and stay there at 1/3 power, that's great ! It works just great now. Thank you. |
Is this diving problem unique to Tok? Or, are all of us going to have this same problem with the Type VIIC?
Where does one find this S3D program and how is used? |
WARNING!!....the answer is not for every GWX2.1 user to tweak the VIIC ffs :damn:
Read posts 2 and 3 :nope: |
Yes, you could do big time *bad* to your SH3. I found the S3D at http://sh4.skwas.net When you get into this program it opens up everything to do with the sub so watch out what you do, I just changed it by one number but make a backup of what ever your going to change. I just could not run my VIIC and I do not no why, could have been my install of GWX 2.1 and my system or something. That's all I'm going to do with my fix, I'm not changing anything else, I like just the way it is so far with GWX 2.1.

The problem is with positive buoyancy... The idea is good, but on SH3's engine, it feels like crap. Makes the diving absurdly irrealistic and the sailing is like a rubber duck. It's gonna be removed in the new version of LB's mod, from all ships & submarines. The rubber duck effect is also caused by the increased wave amplitude from gwx, which will also be removed in the LB's new version.

What is this LB's mod that you refer to? And when will it be released? |
Sounds good, would really like to see the LB mode when it comes out.

The sim mods should be made optional.
Not everyone will like them or agree with them. They argue with the settings in the cfg files. Unless extensively tested? You could be faceing a whole new type of 'Sinking Ship Bug' |

And how many Beta testers do you have?
Over 200 + ships at 100 test each? I don't think so. I looked at 25 and I see problems. I know!! I spent MONTHS testing them. You did what? Adjusted a few files and say OK? :nope: Live and learn. |
