Sing, Nightingale Sing...

Would anyone be able to tell me where I could get a SH III compatible copy of Sing, Nightingale Sing by Evelyn Kunneke? Apparently this was a very popular song in Germany & was a favourate of many U boat crews. So much so that when one crew lost their copy; it was dropped & smashed, they painstakingly glued the record back together so that at least they could hear some of the song.

Thanks...

Do you have any kind of copy at all? The SH3 gramaphone plays MP3s, but it works better if you convert it to .wav or .ogg. Lots of free converters around.

No I don't have a copy & I don't know how to convert those files.

Thanks anyway...

P.S. I just "Googled" Evelyn Kunneke, the song & I can't find any .ogg files available for download. I thought that someone here might have stumbled across it while searching for old tunes...

I think I have an .ogg version. Let me check when I get home tonight.

Probably. I can't listen to or watch YouTube stuff on this pc for some reason though.

Is there something particularly problematic with the SH3 mp3 decoder? Does it use appreciably more CPU time than the Ogg Vorbis decoder?

I noticed that the songs in MP3 format sometimes get cut short, haven't had it happen since I converted all my songs to ogg.

Great post Samwolf...it's a track in my next gramaphone mod so no need to post it now http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...s/thumbsup.gif

Thanks for the downloads.  I was greedy & grabbed all 3 versions; just in case I drop one & break it! :damn: :D I "heard" about the song when I was reading Another Place, Another Time: A U-Boat Officer's Wartime Album by Werner Hirschmann. It seems that every time they played this song while they were docked at La Spezia, all the other crews would request that they crank up the gramaphone speaker so everyone could enjoy it.
