ROFL! :rotfl:

No, but really. It's a communist holiday here AFAIK, but over the years it has turned to a drinkingfest. Abit like Halloween, everyone running around with silly masks and costumes, tho not that trick or treat thingy, only loads of alcohol. ;)

It was my ex-wife's 53rd birthday. Thanks for reminding me, McBee!:rotfl:

Funny is, while 1st may is a leftist holiday, it was made an official holiday in Germany by Hitler. On the same day he declared 1st may a national holiday, abolished the trade unions and created a new national socialist "labour front"...:(

But generally, it is nothing bad to have a holiday dedicated to the working class, social rights and trade unions.

Traditionally, German may day includes:
- Vatertag, fathers going out into the green and drinking themselves into stupor
- labour union demonstrations, mostly about social topics
- neo nazis demonstrating and rioting with leftist counter-protesters with the police caught in between

But generally most of the younger people are hung over on 1st may anyway, as the night before is generally a wild party "dance into may"
Also, the night from 30st April to 1st May is Walpurgis night, when the forces of darkness come out of hiding, witches congregate on the Brocken and Beelzebub himself holds court.....

I didn't realize it was socialist day yesterday. Went driving through downtown and had the pleasure of watching police in full riot gear march throngs of protestors away from the traffic I was sitting in. God it took forever to get out of that traffic...

Its also the day for all students and seems they are becoming the biggest group, the commie march in Helsinki had only 1000 people and half of those were imigrants.
