Historic Japanese air patrols

Ok, I tried to search here for this info, but am having no luck. I am sure this is a well worn thread so if anybody can point me to the proper thread please do so.

My question is what would be the historic probability of encountering air patrols when crusing near (50 - 100 miles) Japanese territory and military activity? This would be anywhere around the home islands and any territory as it was captured and any task force movement. It seems that I can park my boat at periscope depth anywhere near these areas and see a procession of planes going overhead. Every 30 to 90 minutes there is an aircraft passing by. If this is accurate then the Japanese had a whole lot of planes to be able to cover that much ocean with that many planes. If this is not acurate then is there a mod that will adjust patrol frequency to near historic levels?

.....Thanks for the info

There are a lot of mods that do that. Check the mods page. TMO and RSRDC for instance...
