System breakdown after 2 hours playing...
Aaah man, this is just stupid...
I was on a patrol and already completed 2 hours of RL playing, I sunk some 50.000 tons (including a battleship) and I just got DCed by a ASW trawler in the Irish sea. However, my computer decides the last depth-charge was too much, and I'm out of the game... The biggest problem is that I haven't saved the game for like an hour :dead: Dang! I just wasted 2 hours of my life for no result.... |
Ouch that sucks
What was the " breakdown " ? Just booted back to desktop with no errors or system shutdown ? |
Luckely it was only a 'friendly' boot out of the game, back to the desktop.
But it sucks anyhow! |
Sure sucks alright
At least the devs learned something and put an autosave in SH4 so even if you forget the system doesnt Did you have a low system memory pop up by the sys tray ? |
No, I popped in a new 1 gig memory card some days ago, so that shouldn't have been the problem.
I just went *poof* to the desktop... But hey, at least I learned something (save the game every 10 minutes....) |

Sad but true. I've only had a couple ctd like yours. The rest have been errors. At least a half a dozen different ones. GWX \ SH-3 is my favorite game bar none. I'm stuck playing SH4 at MAX settings loaded with mods and haven't had 1 problem. So I know thank heaven it's not my rig. Good Luck. |
Yeah...unfortunately I am experiencing the same thing....I was about two hours into a patrol and had just ripped a convoy when the same thing happened....the game locked up for a second and then I got the error msg. Silent Hunter has encountered an error and must shut down.....boy I hate that......Rick

Mines when I'm at peri depth, their in my crosshairs and I'm just ready to push big red button. Or worse is when I hit them and am watching the fire works. |
I had it were the screen went to blocks of smudge. Have since closed down all programs that autoupdate and all is ok.
|
This sounds like the old Sound Acceleration bug.
Turn your hardware acceleration down by using the sound properties found in the control panel. |
I give that a try. Thanks Danlisa

Ok, to anyone experiencing a CTD, you need to post the error details otherwise it's a needle in a 'hay stack'.
Windows Error Reporting is enabled by default but if you have disabled it, you can activate it again using the System Properties Tab in your Control Panel. So next time any program crashes, an automatic error report is generated and displayed on your desktop asking you to submit the details to Microsoft. Click on the 'details' tab and post the file error info in your thread. This is the only way we can help you. No offense to anyone in this thread or anyone having problems but I'm going to stop replying/trying to help people who can't post useful details. |
