[req]Merchant High Resolution Reskin
 
I've seen a lot of high resolution reskins comming out. Ones for Light Houses, one's for planes, but I haven't seen a whole lot of High Resolution reskins for the things we see the most, the enemey ships.

Is there a specific reason?

If not I'd like to request a few of these.

Ok, so lets assume we have what? Say 125 different ships in GWX?

At 4 different skins per ship, thats only 500 new high resolution skins.

And who said we had to do them all at once? There are what, say 25 people capable of generating a high resolution skin? Each one takes on 20 ships, does 2 a month and we'll be done with the project in a year.

That doesn't sound to bad, not for something that will have a huge impact on the visual presence in this game.

Seriously though, I'm not suggesting we reskin them all right away, but why not start reworking a few at a time. Now that it appears GWX is wrapping up their big modding projects in SH3.

But your prolly right, just better to go on to SH4 and start with a better base to begin with.

I asked him recently and he mentioned real life issues so here's hoping he's OK

So have I. The ancient merchant mod he did a few years ago called MERCHANT VARIETY PACK, Mid-Late War Edition V1.1(MVPMLW) which includes 50 textures, won't work on the drive I have SH3 installed on(The batch file can't find the path specified). :damn: So now I am suffering double anxiety. :rotfl:

The only REALLY time consuming stuff would be to make a template of panels, rivets, windows etc. for one ship, then that could be used to make the rest 3-4 skins for that ship pretty quickly. Similar to, for example, what IL2 skinners do. There's well made templates for almost every plane with panel lines, mechanical stuff, rivets etc. on separate layers, so the skinner only has to make the paintjob and add the details he wants. Very speedy process. :yep:

Thanks - I am doing OK but due to schoolwork my mod has been postponed. I am modding on a limited basis (mainly helping with the lifeboat mod). In 2-3 weeks I will be free to continue with the MFM.

Someone mentioned the Merchant Variety Pack - I recommend that for now you use the GWX merchant ship skins, which are very nice for the most part and even have alpha channels.

Would be my pleasure. I'll upload to FF right now. I am also adding the Addon, which adds 31 more textures.
