Big Bug #734597

In USS Drum, sent to Hiroshima to take photographs of bay and harbour. Success. On the way out I passed an island and on the map "appeared" some "survivors".

What the hell I thought, so had a look around. Embedded into the solid rock of the island, head (or bow) down was a japanese destroyer about 500 yards from the shoreline!!! All that protruded was the stern!!

Running on 1.4 by the way.

Another minor bug near Truk in the Caroline Islands. Raced into position to meet a task force coming north. When it arrived it was troop ship and merchant and 3 destroyers. Thing is this is the 5 or 6th contact of the same combination in a row in differing areas of the sea around the Carolinas.

Sometimes ships will spawn in other objects. The spawn point was buggered.

That's kind of like the convoy I just obliterated. Radioed in the contact since I was able and was ordered to get`em! At this point I realized is was a "convoy" of 5 large sampans. :hmm: Decided that they were probably bringing food to enemy troops so I dove and got into position. Then I took a look at my torpedoes and decided this was the best chance to use my double deck guns offensively :arrgh!: (yeah, USS Narwhal). Between the two deck guns and my newly-found-to-be useful AA gun, we made quick work of the 5 large sampans and were able to dive back to the depths just as radar picked up the incoming planes.

Do you get credit for sinking sampans and fishing boats? How do tell what country they're with since they don't fly flags?

Also, I accidentally sunk a lifeboat when I was pumping one of the boats with AA shells. Of course, such behavior is frowned upon, but will it affect my reknown in the game-or other consequences?

If they run from you then they can be assumed enemy... considering the area.

I've never attacked a sampan or fishing boat, so I couldn't say what credit you would get.. demoralizing to the family members I suppose but not much affect to the war effort. LOL

As for shooting up the life boat... report to the nearest Japanese port and turn yourself in for the beheading ceremony.

If you want to take the sim literally, these Sampans will have a radio on and your position can/will be be reported. Blow the buggars up :arrgh!:

Cavvie,
I had a torpedo miss in a convoy on time and when I looked at the log after I got away from the destroyers it listed liftboat. So I don't know if you get any points for it but it got listed on the sunken ships.

Does that have anything to do with the fact your name is "Red Devil"??? Oh, and I'm leaving now on my own, you don't need to wish me to 'bugger off'.

My nick name is sportingly affiliated; nothing to do with the supernatural!
