Ending a patrol
 

Err, is there something to do to end my current patrol rather than load my previous safe just outside of Tokyo and sail back home (again)? The thing is, I didn't dock or refit when close at Pearl Harbor but chose to sail in and dock instead, partially to see what all the smoke and fire in the port was about. Satisfied with docking, I don't seem to be able to end the patrol, however, only to make a hard safe and scratch my head- no pop-ups, no 'End patrol' options or some such. Not a happy camper at the moment.

I would try to pull out of port about 20-30 miles, and then set course for port again and see if it brings up anything.

BTW what was all the hubub with the smoke at Pearl anyway?

Somewhere on your screen, you should have a small square icon with an anchor in it. Click the anchor, it'll bring up the popup for Refit/Dock/Postpone, then click Dock.

Anchor, yes- I'd completely forgotten about it. This time I just got distracted by the show ashore, I suppose. Never saw what the hubub actually was all about but got to see one of those 'funny' things of SH: a destroyer backing up full throttle to a pen. Blamo. 'Oh dear, did I cause that ?'

I've just completed the objectives, but when I press the anchor, theres not a Dock option, only Refit, End Patrol (can't click it) and Post Pone. How do I end a patrol then?

Was the anchor on your map upright or leaning a bit to one side?

You can only end patrols at your current home base and that shifts sometimes without a warning. Always look whether the port you are approaching has an anchor that is leaning to one side. If it doesn't you are just at a friendly base but not your home base and therefore you can't end the patrol.

All the anchors look the same, some a little bigger than others, but none of them are leaning in any direction. I've tried to dock where I took of from the start, Pearl Habor and another habor, but I only get the choises to Refit or to Postpone, the option End Patrol is greyed out. All my objectives are listed as completed and I've surfaced the boat. I must be missing something...

I had this happen only to find I was somehow reassigned to Perth-Freemantle. Does that icon look any different?

What version of the game are you playing? Slanted anchors(denoting your
home base ) were brought in with 1.4.
