New stuff..I hope it was worth it!

Hey guys, I wanna know what ya think. I got a new computer...sort of

Dell Pentium 4
Antec SX630II ATX case
Supermicro brand P4SCE motherboard
350 Watt Power Supply
240 GB Hard Drive Space (Two 120 GB HD'S)
1 GB RAM
Sony 10x DVD-RW & 16x DVD Burner
( I also own 2 10x CD-ROMS)
I still use Nvidia Geforce FX 5500

Also, I had to finish my collection, can't stand having unfinished ones.
I got some new games:
Silent Hunter I
Silent Hunter II
Silent Hunter IV: Wolves of the Pacific
Battlestations: Midway
Blitzkrieg 2
(All other Blitzkrieg's)
(All other COD beside COD 1 and United Offensive)

Hmm, I still have quite a bit of money. :arrgh!:

I don't know much, but on the whole it sounds pretty good to me.

Except you should have held out for more RAM. SH4 says 1 Gb minimum, and 2 Gb recommended. "Required" means it will run it. "Recommended" means you'll need that much to run it well.

If possible I'd think about upgrading your graphics card. An FX5500 just isn't going to cut it in modern games. SHIII wil be ok but I would think SHIV would stuggle quite a bit with the sliders set up. If it's an AGP, if your interested I may have something you would like, for a small fee :P.

ATi Radeon X1600 (I think!) 512mb, its AGP and a good card a much better spec than the GeForce 5 card.

Apart from that, from the games you've listed it doesn't look like your going to need an uber-spec computer so thats a cool system for what you want/

Or an ATI Radeon X1950 Pro? Might work, I knew I needed 2 GB RAM but me dad won't let me get it. I got $61.00, so I don't know why.:88)

350 Watt psu looks a little on the low side (650 would be better) :hmm:

Cheapest I know is either eBay, pricewatch, newegg. :hmm:

Most of them are 256 MB. I rarely found any 512 MB's on ebay.

This is the computer I bought from firstpacificorp

Sad to say one of our members here bought some ram offa ebay and had some kinda prob with it. I wish I could find the thread about it. It was very recent tho.

Read ebays paypal refund policy very close.
It takes about 3 moths to get money back.

Don't get me wrong I've always had success with ebay but, it doesn't hurt to know all the pitfalls too.:yep:

Good Luck on your build.

I just got a gig of PC3200 DDR400 at Circuit City for $49.95. Well, I got 2 Gigs for $99, but it's the same thing. My upgrade is happening now!

 Circuit City is a good place to buy games! Most of the time I go there, if I can't find a game I need I go to EB games or Gamestop..the best videogame-to-get places besides eBay. I know that Circuit City stocks more videogames then any other stores. I love that place!

The only thing that worries me is that, the power supply seems underpowered. A 400W or 450W one could be better...

I just got it today..and heck it looks brand new. I'm going to set it up now, and enjoy it. :arrgh!:
