Yep, nice find indeed.

Though it sounds a little bit like a mixture of a desperate rallying call and some proud song.
If they have had such songs during WW2, they could have used it to keep up the courage amongst the civil sailors. Which is a bit cynic as they knew that they would propably die out there.

Serious speaking I don't believe it is propaganda, without merchant shipping, Europe would starve. These people were not soldiers, but many of them gave their lifes and their efforts should be respected.
