Horrible graphics glitch with navmap compass rose
Hi all! New here, so please don't lynch me if this happens to be a newb question...
I've been playing SHIII with GWX 2.0 for a couple of weeks and I'm totally hooked with this great game (and a great mod too!). However, I have some awful graphics glitches, probably because my olde tyme laptop graphics card (Geforce4 440 Go) doesn't support pixel shading. Here's something I have to live with: -Psychedelic greenish-purple colors on crewmembers -Ship flags usually not showing -Ship and torpedo wakes are white rectangles -On shallow waters the water is brown -The GWX u-boat compass rose that shows on small-scale (i.e. showing ship-shaped icons) nav maps is a grey rectangle covering everything beneath it Now, I can live with almost all of this (I just imagine that my sub commander has a habit of eating strange mushrooms while on patrol...) but the compass rose thing is pretty annoying, since it effectively prevents me from using the small-scale map sizes. Is there a way to remove it - or fix this situation some other way? I do have the latest graphics drivers installed. |
Welcome to Subsim.
IIRC (cos doing this from memory) you can remove the Compass/Bearing Overlay by going into the Player Sub folders inside the main SH3 program folder (example \data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat7b) and backup/delete the TGA called NSS_Uboat7b_shp.tga. This is the overlay file and you will need to do the same for all the player boats. Best to backup/save them elsewhere, just incase. |
Putting up with all that just to play sh3, now thats dedication!
Bravo and welcome to the forum:up:  Any chance of a screenshot?? |
Removing that tga seems to have done the trick for the compass rose. It does show a "tga shape not found" text, but heck, I'm happy with that. So thank you.
Here's a screenshot from the command room. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3018/...53db482c_o.jpg "Dude... Whoa... This stuff is awesome!" |
