1st mod
 
ok i need some help here im tring to make the game do the following 1) invincable to shells and depth charges (cosmetic damage is fine just no sinking) 2) instant reload for DG 3) infinate Dg ammo mostly i need to know what files to look in to edit all this stuff (i always use the salmon class ship if it matters) and if possible make the torps track target when it turns thnx

Look, this a mostly friendly place, but if you start off with a post like the one above, you're not going to get real far. Read the threads, use the search function and you'll find a lot of help once you've demonstrated that you've tried to learn yourself...

ok goin in i can understand my 1st post was a bit much but im a 1st person shooter kinda guy and very direct :yep: and dont want my 25 dollars to go to waste, i like blowing things up and plotting as i go. also i have searched the web for answers to how to do the things mentioned in my first post and have found nothing detailed enough to help so any straight foward answers wud be much appriciated thnx

You got a straight answer, read the SH modding forums, learn how to mod... all the info you need to get started is there. There is no manual, you'll just have to read the threads...

None of us want our money going to waste and we all like to "blow stuff up" as well, but when you remove every single hindrance in pursuit of that goal, what's the point of playing of the game? There's no challenge to it anymore!

There was a mod that would fit some of the stuff you want, but it was wayyyy back with 1.2, the Killer Sub Mod: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=115333
The mod has not been updated since 1.2, but the thread and read-me may give you some ideas.
Also, as per what what mentioned here already, if your willing to invest the time, there are many great resources here in the threads\stickies that could get you well on your way to doing your own stuff with SH4. But it all takes time :yep:, nothing happens overnight.

Edit: here is another mod, compatible with 1.3 I think, although I saw that modder has something possibly in the works for 1.5:

i kno i actually used that mod to find and change the time of reload for the dg but havent tried a number lower than .2 other than that i mainly just need to kno wat file too look in for sub health and ammo/shells carried so far i've looked in the submarine file under the salmon sub and cfg file but i cant tell wat #s dictate wat atributes of the game thanx for the segestion reallydedpoet. (and the point of removing the hinderence of blowing things up is that my main interest is stalking the seas and sinking any ship i see without negative consequence, how i play is my bussiness how u play is urs leave it at that)

I'm sorry, I just gotta say it. I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, but your grammar, punctuation, and spelling offends me. If your location didn't say 'US of A' it probably wouldn't. But it does.

I would be much more inclined to give out the information you seek (which took me many hours of hard work to learn) if I didn't get the feeling that you are not just trying very hard, and your posts lead me to believe this is most likely the case in everything you do.

If you have a specific question about a specific function or a specific file, I'd be more than happy to help if I can, providing I don't have to wade through text that appears to have been written on a cell phone.

Again, I'm not trying to start anything, but I just feel rather strongly about this, and felt I had to say something.

I don't want to sound rude, but if you want to just blow things up, go find Medal of Honor and its cheats. Enjoy them, but this game really gives the challenge, makes you be careful.

Remember, I don't think RAMBO was in the Silent Service.

Ok lads maybe the OP was a little over the top with his request, and yes complete sentences and proper grammar are both good things, but let's cut him a bit of slack here :yep: He is not the first member to make a request for a non-realism mod.

This is some good advice.

Silent Hunter is no FPS, but it can be quite customizable with game settings and all of the great mods available. Throw in some self-initiative and patience and it can be a very nice use of your time :D
