GTA IV Who's gunna get it?

I consider the grand theft auto series to be essential gaming for anyone who considers themselves a gamer.

With the game due for release at the end of April (just after my birthday wOOt:cool:) it would seem there is plenty of controversy about it. Loudmouth politicians (Hillery Clinton) are clamoring for it to be banned. The mayor of NY has gon on record saying that the game in no way represents the real crime levels in his fair city. Well of course not, it's just a video game.

What do you think? Is it just an adult themed video game for adults to have fun with, or is it some dangerouse evil thing sent to brainwash the minds of our fair youth?

I have to add, I've played every incarnation of the GTA series and considder them to be great fun. At no point have I murdered, raped or beaten enyone up, I survived the gaming experience with my morals intact:smug:.

A co-worker of mine has an aunt who is a nun. She loves playing GTA.

She has no problems separating real life from a video game.

Must be a cool nun:up:

GTA

I played GTA III and VC, but never played any others after (not because of moral concerns though). My friends who played with me were annoyed because I would stop at red lights when driving (just to annoy them though:arrgh!:). I was actually quite out of control in my GTA driving though - I never once used my signal lights.

I looked at the trailers. They look cool, but I won't get it for the same reason I don't play any of the shooters. I'm not really a gamer. I like submarines, airplanes and race cars, but I only play the ones that recreate the reality, at least for me.

Have fun with it, though.

Umm, currently there are no plans for GTA4 to be a PC game.

It may eventually be ported but with the 360 version pushing 20GB before any DLC is added and the PS3 version hitting nearly 35GB, I'd imagine the PC version will have to be 'scaled' down a little.

Day one purchase for me.

Let the rooftop sniping begin.:arrgh!:

Yea i liked San Adreas but these type of games need to be R rated I played the uncut version of San Adreas for the PC dont know if the xbox version was the same but the game clearly wasn't for young gamers. Really the parents are at fault not the developers i see often in the local video store mums hiring out R16 to R18 games for their 10yr olds. Because the mother is buying it the shop owner wasn't doing anything illegal yet we all knew who the game was for. I see it happen all the time mums hiring out R16 to R18 games for their kids who dont look older than 10:roll:

I`ll definatly buy it but im still a little dubious about the UK release, still no certificate only 1month before release date!
I have a bad feeling its going to go the way of manhunt2 and get banned in the uk:cry:

If it comes to that, I'll import it.;) After all the PS3 is region free and it'll be cheaper from the US.

Nothing will prevent my enjoyment of gratuitously murdering innocents.

I'm lucky.....It'll probably be a day of release purchase. My son will buy it ;)

Running around and stealing cars, beating up people, and making a wreck of things was fun - for about 5 minutes. Maybe I'm jaded, but GTA has got to be the most boring games on the planet. After you've had a large vehicle and gone tearling around the game world, well, not much else is there.

GTA games are fun as long as you don't play for too long.

Some games, you stop playing them because you haven't eaten in a few days (SH3, OFP, Red Baron II I'm looking at you)
Others you stop playing because you're sick of the goddamn sight of them (GTA, Red Alert). You come back a few weeks later and everything's fine.

HunterICX 03-31-08 06:44 AM

I wont be getting it,
TBH I havent got another GTA game after 3

GTA the very first one is still my favorite
then comes Number 2

it was New back then, now its perhaps fancy graphics and you can go anywhere you like but back then the 2dish view from above had something special:yep:
3 was nice , but it didnt beat 1 & 2, ''Elvis has left the building!!!''
