Why does my Sub always HALT after Mission/Campaign Reload
I thought that your sub always stopping/comming to a halt after mission/campaign reloads was fixed somewhere along the way.
However, every time I reload my current Mission/War Patrol/Campaign Save File; upon entering the game my crew automatically calls for an "ALL STOP" and my sub automatically stops. Is something FUBARed here??? :damn: I'm running stock game with U-Boat expansion/1.5 patch. |
Mine has always done that. I just thought that was the way it's supposed to be. It's easy enough to press one of the keys for a speed. Not a deal killer in my mind.
|
Nope, stock game plays this way. No big deal really. Gives you time to remember what you were up to at your last save.

The bug has been there since 1.0, though I think it should have bee fixed in the u-boat add-on. After installing the addon my sub sometimes continues doing what it did before saving, but sometimes the map is wiped clean of waypoints and marking and the sub stops. No idea why this happens, but then again it's not such of a big deal(well, losing the waypoints sucks sometimes)

You know, I havent had this problem since I installed the addon. I've only been playing the Uboat side so far, I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Yet, I've installed the addon and have this problem...Weird!!! |
I've got a 1.4 no mods and 1.5 with mods installs and they both are stopped. Like others say, it's no big deal...except maybe the sub capitan that saves with sub surfaced within firing range of a warship. If you take awhile to get underway when you load up the game I guess you could get an unpleasant greeting. I'm sure the Yamato would be more than OK to wait until you reload the saved game to use your sub for target practice.

It is a "safety" feature so you don't run your sub into an island or worse when you reload a save. I personally like it.

Doesn't happen in SH4UBM
In the new add-on your boat retains course and speed from when you saved the game. That alone made upgrading worth the $10.00.

When the 3d world is 'loaded' there are a few variables and if your ship was moving at flank there is a good chance of you colliding with a 3d object, destroying your sub. Now would you rather have to order helmsman ahead or have your sub mysteriously implode from god knows what? |
Yeah, I also thought it was intentional....and liked it.
One click after game-load, and we're sailing upspeed again, no big deal. |
Now that's funny! lol
I don't steer toward an island or any other object at flank-speed and Save. If I did I'd deserve to get sunk. Typically I save on the surface at night with no contacts at 1x. Although SH4 looks 3d I can't think of a reason why it is any different than SH1 for example in resuming from a Save. SH1 was a 3d environment with moveable objects besides the sub; shipping, aircraft, etc, and that was made in 1996 and it didn't matter what was nearby while saving. Anyway - if it's a boat class issue, right now I'm in a Gar class but can't imagine what that would have to do with anything. I think it's a feature. ;-) Happy Hunting! Art |
I've never liked the feature myself (although I can see it might save your boat while loading while docked or close to land or other vessles.) I've gotten use to it, but would like it to go away. What I find curious about this discussion is the (apparently) equal number of people who claim save restores retain their telegraph settings as those who do not using 1.5.
