Which Century are We living in?

What is wrong with these people?

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/com...cle3597851.ece

What century do they think we are living in?
The Catholic Church is thankfully a minority group in the UK.
The Church and state are supossed to be separate.
Who do they think they are to try and force their beliefs on society?
Do they what to start persecuting scientists again like they did with Galileo?
These people drive me mad!
Trying to hold back research that might save lives.
One area of science where Britain excels is genetics, but these nutters what to stop that.

I would reduce that just down to religion. Too much of a problem, shame you can't ban it. Amazes me that after thousands of years of evolution people are so easily swayed to some almighty god/deity, in a time where science is all around us its even more amazing. It p***es me off even more when religion is used as an excuse to commit mass murder, "I didn't do it, god told me to, its in this book you see... got to do every thing by this book or we are bad bad people" :damn: :damn: :damn:

If people wish to preach or believe in religion then fine, thats up to them. When its used as an excuse to commit inexcusable offenses, ridiculous.

God might expand on the seven deadly sins to bring it up to modern times. These guys have a private line to the main man.

I often feel that the world would be better if all organized religion were to be banned and everyone concentrated on their personal spiritual relationships as they felt appropriate.

Agreed whole heartedly.

Unfortunately, they are blind to the fact that they are forcing their beliefs on others. They have a mentality that they know "The Truth" and they argue "If I was injured, wouldn't you fight like hell to save me ?" or "If I'm doing something that's bad for me, wouldn't you fight like hell to get me to stop ?"

Also unfortunately, their "Truth" has no basis in modern science which is testable, reproduceable, and not relient on faith alone.

We're supposed to have a total separation of Church and State here but we have "In God We Trust" on our dollar bills, and we're "One nation under God" in our Pledge of Aliegence. :nope:

A lot of people use those two facts to argue that America has always been a religious country, but they don't realize that both of them were not put there by the founders, but by a much later generation.

In god we trust first appeared on specific coins in the mid 1800's. However it did not become required on all coins and bills until the 1950's about the same time our pledge of allegiance was changed for political reasons.

It appeared that these changes in the 1950s were necessary in the fight against the dreaded communists.

It was a well understood fact that a communist could not touch money with "in god we trust". Therefore this was an excellently planned strategic plan to deprive both foreign and domestic communists from being able to make telephones from pay phones and to buy candy bars. Both of which were critical for the communists plan to subvert the United States.

Citizens were warned to be on the look out for anyone suspicious who was dropping money as this would be a significant indicator that they were a dreaded communist. Do not be fooled by the communist mind. Sometimes they would conceal their money dropping by pretending to donate money to charities or poor people. Anyone being observed dropping money into charity boxes or financially supporting social programs to help the poor would be suspect of being a dreaded communist.

It was unknown whether wearing gloves would protect the dreaded communist from the "in god we trust". To be on the safe side, all loyal Americans stopped wearing gloves. This is why in woman's fashions, it became unfashionable for women to wear gloves after the 1950s.

Doubtless, these four words saved the United States from unspeakable horrors.

Ban religion? Um... no. There is far more to our existence than science can prove. However these people who commit attrocities in the name of religion do so for themselves not for any other reason, they are just using religion as an excuse. Which is wrong.

If that research can help save lives, then no church has a right to stand in the way.
