The U.S. Navy has been utilized for years by the DEA in the area for drug busting. If I remember right, the Oliver Hazard Perry's have been the main force for this since they have the SH-60 and a 5-inch gun.

Funny - our societies loath the drug lords and (emotion dropping down a notch) despise the local dealers and then never even consider the consumer. Don't get me wrong - if you decide to impale the pushers, I'll sharpen the stakes for you. But the root of the problem lies with us - with the person in the next apartment and (God forbid) with ourselves. No demand, no imports. Our societies demand a get-tough attitude with the suppliers, while at the same time demanding no penalties at all for individual possession. Why is that?

Wrong. Individual posession is punished with fines, punishments, or jail-time. It is Ass-backwards and it doesn't help anybody.

Prohibition was a disaster since it only drove the manufacture of alcohol underground or out of the couintry to be smuggled into the U.S. If people wanted it, they were going to get it.

Why won't legislators do the smart thing and turn it into a profitable enterprise by legalizing some of the drugs that are banned and then regulating it? The users get what they want, the government gets more taxable revenue, and it eliminates an agency that for all intents and purposes is a FAILURE.

Hmmm... this might make for some interesting Dangerous Waters missions. :up:

There's already some with drugrunners using subs, but not these semi-subs. Maybe someone can model these? ;)

Yahoshua - I completely agree that prohibition, be it of alcohol, cocaine or handguns, has never been effective. I guess however that I was being a bit too subtle. My point was not aimed at encouraging prohibition, but rather a general comment on societal views and concepts.

The drug 'problem' has three basic players - the producers (generally also the importers), the sellers and the consumers. We seem to place the entire blame for the problem on the first two of these groups and go to immense lengths to identify, locate, catch and punish them. The third group (basically us - no offense intended) is virtually ignored when it comes to blame, yet without the demand from the man on the street (be it skid row junkie or corner office corporate lawyer), the drug trade would end tomorrow. Our societies are as guilty as the druggies.

I don't think we will be trying to kill foreign nationals from a friendly nation anytime soon unless they start shooting at us from those pseudo submarines.

I read a few weeks ago that about 1 in 99 Americans are incarcerated. For black males, that number is 1 in 15. That is absolutely mind boggling, on several levels.
