Scope Bearing Vertical Position help

Hey guys,
Ive since taken on porting L3thal and capt cox's former scopes into each patch/update. One small hitch this time...

The German sub attack scope has that upper horizontal line. That line, by a HAIR is just touching the very bottom of the bearing numbers.

What id like to do, is either move that line down, a millimeter or two, OR move the bearing indicator UP a millimeter or two.

Any guidance how i can make the changes to the menu.ini?

Sorry ATR-42 (initials plus meaning of life?) I'd have a look, but I don't have 1.5 installed yet. Instead of moving the image down, could you not edit the periscope mask instead and remove the uppermost line? This would make it more other-MOD friendly.

I could try to edit the mask overlay but im not very good at working with DDS files w/ the little program i have, MW DTXBmp, is very limited. almost like working with paint. if i could scoot the bearing up a hair itd be perfect.

GIMP is a free program that is very powerful and you can also get a DDS plug-in so you can load and save dds files directly into GIMP. You could even use GIMP to save the files as a BMP or a TGA and then use a converter to turn it into a dds file.

EDIT: If you like, you can send me the file and I'll edit it for you.

Paint.net (also free) has native dds support also.:yep:

trouble is, when i open the german scope overlay, it does not show the upper horizontal line, it only shows the crosshairs "+" not the upper line.

I don't know what the chapter number is in 1.5, but in 1.4 the following is the section for the bearing indicator for the attack periscope.

Code:

[G26 I134]
Name=Compass
Type=1030;Static bmp
ItemID=0x26000004
ParentID=0x26000000
Pos=422,-164,180,16
Zone= 422 604 180 16 0 1 0x26000002 0.5 -0.5 0x26000004 -0.5 0.5 0 0
Color=0x66B26680
Materials=1
Display=0;No stretch
Mat 0=data/menu/gui/bearing.tga
MatFlags=0x1
TexFmt=0x0

The number I highlighted in red is the number of pixels up (positive number) or down (negative number) to move the object after doing all the whacky mathematical calculations with the rest of the zone statement. So, if you want to move it up ten pixels, you would change that last number in the zone to 10

If anyone happens to know what section is the equivalent in 1.5, please chime in. You'll probably be able to find it by searching for bearing.tga and making sure that you are on the attack periscope page. In 1.4 the section above was the first section that I came to when searching for bearing.tga.

Trucker you are the man! thank you, i knew it must have been somewhere in the ZONE line, i just wasnt sure where it was in that mess of numbers. i will start toying around with that for starters!

thanks so much!

Its G26 I137, theres another entry down the road a bit but i think thats for the observation scope bearing placement.
i'll report back ;)

Hope it does the trick. BTW if you ever want to know something about the menu.ini file and what you can do with the zone line, check out zAmboni's excellent turorial on the subject. I keep it saved in html format on my system for reference.
