The telescope stick you posted - we call them Viper over here - is nice to have it with you, but is relatively heavy and not as versatile as a solid stick of same length. It's hidden in some box of mine and collects dust. You also better don't use it in a fast moving, rotating, handswitching way like you eventually would use to do with a solid stick to confuse your opponent - Vipers tend to fold in in the most unwelcomed moment. :) A simple blocking action eventually may be enough to make the three segments fall together, so this is nothing to be used against a prepared and maybe even armed opponent. an opponent with a soldi stick himself would be even worse.
No matter what, combat sticks need a lot of training. But if you excel in it, they are a devastating weapon in close range combat, and very versatile. My mentor used to call the three tips of a Tonfa the "three degrees of freedom" :lol:
If you really want overkill capacity in close range combat, train to competently handle Nunchakoos. I sucked with them, and gave it up soon, they are not for me. Definitely even less suited for the casual user :lol:
