[WIP] Accurate Deck Gun and AA Gun MOD (WWII SPECS)
UPDATE:
I regret I must throw in the towel for this mod. My hard drive along with the backs up I had went with my computer a few days ago. At this point I am to busy trying to recover documents, pics, music files etc. All my mod work for ROW, ROWS SOUNDS, this mod, etc has been lost, luckily I have some backs up on filefront. It will take me awhile to find what I am looking for. It is somewere among the recovered folders and files (over 1,000,000 files, in 6000 folders). Regardless if I streamline my process or not I will be out of action for awhile. I really do not have the patience for this, previous experience told me to get a ext backup but I was to lazy. Well I sure hell have learned my lesson. This ******** S****! I hope one of you benefit from my misfortune and learned something, SWDW has some of my work so hopefully he will fix it up and release it with RFB and as a stand alone. The purpose of this mod is to provide players of Silent Hunter 4 with a historically accurate gun mod. The specs from which I acquired my information is considered to be the Holy Grail of war, Janes. My sources are the rare and hard to find republication of, “Janes fighting ships, 1939 – 1945”, and a WWII veteran who served on the USS Missouri as a Dual 40mm AA gun loader. I have made changes to all 20mm AA, 40mm AA, and 3, 4, and 5 inch deck gun firing rates, as well as ranges per my references and interview. Once the bugs have been fixed and this mod is released you might be surprised at what true reload times were in the Pacific during WWII. Currently there are a few bugs which I am working on with the assistance of SWDW. A great clip of carrier duty, Americas Greatest Generation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0iD4FkZmEs |
You have peaked my interest, and i wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

I hope it works out. The gun has been discussed and disscussed again with both SH3 and 4. Perhaps your mod will be the end-all for those discussions! Good luck:up: |
I think we will be done

Sounds great! I assume that since SWDW is helping out, this will find it's way into RFB:hmm: At least I hope that's the case. Good luck with it:up:

SWDW I guess hes typing upa guide for me soI can fix my issue, but im sure if anyone asks there won't be a problem with using it  . BUT, I need to release it first :damn:  . There will be also be updated Deck gun sounds so I will have to uploadit as a ROW SOUNDS EFFECTS 9 add on. This mod will be RSRD compatible. Theres more surprises so you will just have to wait. |

Is Jane's Fighting Ships, 1939-1945 the same as Jane's Fighting Ships of World War II? If so, it's not rare at all, I have a copy, and Amazon has 25 copies available right now, starting at less than $20.
http://www.amazon.com/Janes-Fighting...5898154&sr=1-3 I'll be curious to see what the true reload times are this time. |
Ok, I wanna follow this thread and see what comes up :D

I had plenty of time to kill this week. I spent 2 days at the library, one day for a college project and one day for this mod. If whats below doesn't put your mind at ease then nothing will, I know the facts. The stuff below is about the 40mm alone! Date of design? Dates in service? Gun weight? Muzzle Velocity Gun lenght? Bore lenght? Rifling lenght? Chamber volume? Ammunition type? - bullet types for US, UK, Germany, Japan, Norway, Switzerland - the amount of propellent packed into each round for each country. Cartridge type and weight? Propellent charge? Barrel life? Ammunition stowage per gun? whats the max firing range? at what elevation? with which bullet? of which country? How much armor? and what type of armor? can each type armor piercing round penetrate? at what range? etc etc etc; I have done my research! |
Cool, so when do we get to see this and try it out?
