surface shockwave depthcharges
hello
i don t see wave-shock on surface after depth charge explosion like in sh3 : water seems so quiet and column of water without density. i think it s necessary for a true immersion in game. |
WELCOME ABOARD!:sunny:
Unfortunately, for me true immersion in the game means no external views. |
Yea, but wouldn't we be able to see the shock from the side as viewed through a periscope? Don't know how it would look, but would be some nice eye candy.

Anyway...Welcome aboard. |
Hmmm, I make take a look at this. What would a good effect look like? A big white disturbance, sort of like an upside down plate, followed by a column of water a split second later?

I'm sorry; that's no ordinary depth charge. Here's what the ones we're dealing with looked like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPGLwAlxBdM Also check out the movie The Enemy Below. It has a couple of aerial shots of depth charges going off. And, If you have SH3, their charges have a shock wave that looks, as was said, like a big dinner plate. |
Watched that second one lots of times, getting somewhere with it. Not quite right yet, will work on it some more tomorrow. That first vid reminds me of the French underwater nuclear test they did in the pacific amid massive protest.

Anything that pisses off a tree hugger is alright with me. Nuke that fish!!!
|
The size of the shockwave over the sea is inversely proportional to the depth where the charge explodes.
