Not just that. You had much more respect for your teacher then, than the pupil/stundent have today.

If I hear one more person complaining about kids being "counselled to death" and "turning into zombies" because of medication, I'm going to do something my therapist wouldn't approve of. People spreading falsehoods about psychotherapy and acting like its worthless or even harmful are preventing people who need help from taking the step to get it.

On whose behalf are you speaking here? I graduated from a North American high school within the last 5 years and things were never as extreme as suggested by these rather silly examples, and I came from a supposedly 'bad' school. There were bad seeds, as there always have been and always will be, but the majority of us appreciated and followed directions. Throughout all our bomb threats and drug dealers I cannot recall any scenarios that actually mimicked these results. And hey, I'm sure everything turned out just peachy in '77 too, right? But of course, those were the good ol' days. Must get my head out of the sand.

Yes but there are those out there where if a child acts not normally they then go fill him/her up with retalin class him as ADD when he probably hasn't got ADD!. When my Nepwhew was 7 the doctor recommended my sister he be put on ritalin she said no and just took him off sugared foods as he was very hypoactive, couldn't sit still, got bored with anything withing 5minutes hes 16 now and a normal teenager she did it without any medication. But yeah there are those that really do need the help, trouble is some use the ritalin as a shortcut - lets put them on that problem solved.

I left school in 1981(9th class) I do remember something from back then, in 1977
No it was not the "good old days" absolutly not. We had problems with drugs and a.s.o then also. But Somehow the teacher had more respect.

Further more, I remember lot off thing from my days in school then and in 1999 to 2001 when I was studying to be a math teacher And I asure you that here in Sweden there was huge different from then(77) and now(01)
