[REL] SH4 Scene 8k & 16k plus Atmosphere for SH3.

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2.../16kScene1.jpg

Hi, well as you all know both OLC & I have been hard at it producing varying atmosphere mods for SHIII, After a lot of research & testing am now able to produce a SH4 Scene 16k atmosphere!:yep: Also inbuilt is a smaller moon by AIL, I have PM'd him over a week ago with no response so I hope He doesn't mind, He is included in credits.
The following pics have been done from the same location, you can see the destroyer in the background:

There are 2 downloads for the 16k version alone, and for both GWX & Other:
http://files.filefront.com/SH4+16k+S.../fileinfo.html
as well as a new updated combined mod:

Documentation is supplied, this is version 1.0 of the mod so please let me know of bugs & I will try to fix & release in a later version.:D
Also many thanks to Manuel Ortega the original creator of the 16k mod, the readme contains a complete credit list & if I missed anyone please let me know.
Cheers.
EDIT: New version:

You say you and OLC have been working together...

Interesting then that he's also got his own atmosphere mod nearly finished.

With you guys both associated with this one and his in the other thread looking so very promising I'll find it hard to choose.

Btw could you post some night time pics so that we can get a feel for that? It seems to be the number one thing everyone worries with new atmosphere mods.

Great work once again mate.

Wolfehunter 03-12-08 02:20 AM

I'm confused Reece..:hmm: Didn't you already release a Atmosphere mod? Or this is for Stock and the other was for GWX 2.0? Does this one have your green waters.

Or is the new post an update from your previous release? Or are they completely different?

help me man i can't choose... there all too good.:damn:

No!! It's just that we both have been on this around the same time, OLC has been working on the SH3 Scene file & I have been working on the SH4 Scene file.:yep: What this does is gives the players a large range of atmosphere mods to choose from!
I had to release mine as the 16k side of the SH4 Scene was non existant, this is a first!:D

This area is totally in the sky Env files, & haven't touched them, it would be the same as GWX and previous 16k mods, however I will look into this further.:yep:

As above, this is the first release of a 16k atmosphere for SH4 Scene.dat, a few other improvements included.:)

Wolfehunter 03-12-08 02:38 AM

So what your saying is this is the newer better superduper improved TNT version?
With a few tweeks here and there.;)

I scratch the old one.:smug:

Thanks Reece

Does this need to be enabled whilst in port, or could you get away with enabling it whilst at sea.

Ah bollix! I skimmed right past 'varying'.

Good point though. Choice is wonderful, especially if its not just which multi-gigabyte super mod you want to install.;)

If you were changing from a 16k to 16k or 8k to 8k I would say ok but if your changing to a different atmosphere size I would wait until the current patrol is finished, due to changing Env files.:yep:

The main reason for this release is that this is the first 16k version ever done for the SH4 Scene, a breakthrough after many failed attempts!;)
If anyone just wants to stay with 8k then there is not much in it (only a few goodies)!

Nice work mate! Congrats on cracking the 16km problem :D

Reece and I did try a little technical collaboration on some scene-related stuff but what with me being in the UK and Reece being in Oz, and with us only having PM as a means of communication, it proved too difficult. :(

Just to get this right, before enabling the GWX v1.0 though JSGME, I select which version I want by selecting one of the 'scene DAT' files from the folders in 'documentation', or are those files just for the non-GWX SHIII. Also, do I deactivate the GWX 16Km Atmosphere before enabling this.

Carotio 03-12-08 07:02 AM

Sounds good :yep:

But curious: did you use the stock SH4 scene file for this new 16km version, or a modified SH4 ROW mod file?
The ROW guys have messed with the SH4 scene file for SH4 as well, and one of these mods makes the player capable to see about 16 to 20 km away.

Reece 03-12-08 07:07 AM

Hi Jane, yes there are so many options it's a little confusing, first you will have to choose the version you want, 8k or 16k, then make sure the appropriate mod is selected, for example in GWX it is an option to use the 16k version, install this first before installing the SH4 16k Scene mod, or make a combined mod of the 2 overwriting the GWX files.:yep: It was easier to do this way rather that a separate install for each option, the uploaded file would have been huge!
Once this has been beta tested and errors fixed I will do a better install version, I already found a problem, the moon that was great in 8k is way too small in 16k version, so I will have to adjust this!
Thanks for the kind words OLC, I probably rushed mine out a bit too quick, I was just excited about getting the 16k version out!

This was done way back with the original 1.4 file, I didn't know that ROW did any mods that altered the Scene.dat file, I thought he just adjusted the visual sensors to see further, could you tell me the name of the mod, I have about a dozen but none of these alter that particular file.:yep:

3Jane 03-12-08 07:21 AM

So, do I install the 16Km GWX v1.0 then install a selected option from one of the scene Dat files in 'documentation', and enable that through JSGME as a seperate mod. And do I just ignore the message in JSGME that files have already been altered by the GWX 16Km atmosphere. Sorry about any confusion on my part.

Not at all, I'm confused!
To make it a little easy here is instructions for the 16k option for GWX:
1) Install the GWX 16k atmosphere option.
2) Unpack the contents of the SH4_16k_Scene_for_SH3_v1.rar file to a temp folder.
3) Copy the SH4 16k Atmosphere for GWX v1.1 folder to the Mods folder & enable, JSGME will report a clash just go ahead and install.
4) Now if you want a less reflective version then disable the mod, go to the documentation\Less Reflective folder and copy the Scene.dat file to the mods data folder overwriting the existing Standard version, then re-enable mod.:yep:
Hope this helps.:D
