For the benefit of clayp and others who may be having problems, I thought I'd post my tactics for avoiding the cause of many an angry simmer.
Hope this helped a little. :) |

When first going to external view, it puts you behind the boat, above the surface. You must use your mouse, one left click, then use the arrow keys and mouse cursor at the same time to move the camera. Point the mouse cursor towards the water and down you'll go!! It takes getting used to, but you'll get the hang of it. Good luck.

Good hunting, Howler :arrgh!: |
I haven't encountered mines either in SH4, but in SH3 I often used the observation scope to spot them. As long as you were travelling slow you still had enough time to avoid them. Is this not possible in SH4?

Mines can be seen with the scopes. Also, instead of using F11, use the normal keyboard period(.)

Howler93,
The mine fields are in the stock game. If you have the map that came with the game. Look at the legend and it tells you the different colors for the different years of the war. Fields are mostly around Japan. If you don't have a map this link will take you to a site where you can download the map. http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.4902 Also in Trigger Maru, Ducimus increased the density of the mine fields, the stock fields are not very dense. Hope this helps! |
D also changed what depth you'll find them too
|
Thank you for this! I haven't encountered any mines/nets so far but I probably will one day so thanks! :)
