UK Budget 2008

Well we are coming up to another one on the 12th March. I think it will be a bad one as Labour want to rake the money in before the big give away buying your vote in 2009 general election.

silentrunner 03-08-08 12:54 AM

I said stinger. Probably be worse than what you predicted. Oh I sdee you changed your location again. Nice:rotfl::rotfl::|\\:|\\

XabbaRus 03-08-08 06:09 AM

Stinger
Darling might be the sec. treasurey but Broon calls teh shots.
I hope to hell he loses the election in 09 when there has o be one. Cameron might not be much different but it is time for a change.

Kapitan_Phillips 03-08-08 07:51 AM

There's really no need for a poll here STEED. They're already raking it in on every conceivable level, so why actually make any decent changes?

Sure, they'll propose a couple of things to make it look like they're doing something, but all it'll end up being is a ruddy great invoice to the British public. :nope:

Letum 03-08-08 08:28 AM

The British public can't complain if they get what they voted for.

Good point but a lot of voters stay at home on there fat rear ends and shout the odds, as far as I am concerned they have no rights on the grounds they failed to go and vote.

They can not get it in to there heads what they are doing is playing right in to the hands of the political system and the party's like it.

Back to the Budget we're had a couple of wet neutral ones so we are in for a bit of a claw back, the question is how much?

Jimbuna 03-08-08 08:53 AM

I voted 'Stinger'....but let's be honest here STEED. Your still bitter your mate never took you with him when he jumped ship http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/7...ebigtb9fg3.gif

I know our armed forces could do with some extra cash and whilst I don't know about
schools nationwide, my local primary is in a sorry state and could use some cash for a
new roof. If not a new building!

I Would also like to see house prices subsidised for locals in my village. No one can
afford to live here anymore because the prices are so high that the houses are all
being sold off as holiday homes to outsiders that are only here fore a few months
each year. I don't think we should be forced out of our own village like that. I
suppose that isn't really budget territory tho.

If more spending means more tax, then I would prefer fuel, fags and perhaps VAT to
rise as opposed to business tax

However, all that is just from my perspective and not necessarily what is best for the
country. I don't pretend to be an economist.
Even if I had the draft budget to read I am not well informed enough to decide if it is
a good one in these economically troubled times of late. Budgets are always compromises
between different factors, so it certainly will be impossible to meet all interests.

YOU WANT FUEL PRICES TO GO UP :O!!!!

it averages 104.9p a litre as it is two years ago when i started to drive it was 78.9p per litre its not just the average joe who has to pay all that what about lorry and van drivers who work for companies it would mean either loose vehicles and staff to kurb the rising cost or just sell off the english side of the buisness and go abroad.

Since 2006 when prices began to sore Eddie stobart the biggest (or was) haulier in the UK sold more than 30 of his vehicles and now to make it alot worse he is transfering the bulk of his operations into polish hands 35% of his fleet now are left hand drive polish registerd and polish driven.

Thats because diesel has hit 114.9p a litre in poland its only about 73.9p a litre can you see the diffrence?

Keep raising the tax on fuel and people like me van / lorry driver will loose my job eventually if you want more tax on fuel go ahead but i really cannot see the average englishman being able to eat inside the next 15 years.

Its not just those haulier affected either Tesco have made over 100 redundancies for lorry drivers now sainsbury said goodbye to 40 so far, the law states a driver can only work 4.5 hours before a 45 min rest break then another 4.5 hours and 45 mins and one last 4.5 hour run before his 9 to 11 hour break.

VOSA know exactly why and have stated that 90% of lorry drivers stopped for being over thier hours were making up for company short falls.

2 years ago my brothers old motor you could fill up (bear in mind 1000 litre tanks) his two tanks (1500 litre total) for just under £1300 now its near the £2000 mark.

Thing is if you get rid of lorries and large vans your left with small 3.5 tonnes vans in the UK which means while ford is making a killing no one is going any where our roads cannot cope with the amount of congestion as it stands right now ! it would take 10 vans per single lorry load and if we have 1.7 million lorries both forign and english on our roads DAILY then you can see why we have a big problem.

Fuel prices need to be cut because we cannot keep up with European hauliers, for example Norbert Dentressangle the Biggest french company he is a huge hauiler thanks the the UK no not fuel prices but he can offer a service cheaper than a mainland UK haulier so we loose out in the end.

Since 2006 norbert dentressangle has doubled in size he has over 250 lorries in comparision stobart have now only got 160 and in over two years they have lost ****e loads of contracts because they cant do it any cheaper because of fuel they have lost alot of drivers and lorries to make up for this short fall, drivers have to work harder and longer which is illigal i might add it can cost you very dearly and can even mean a loss of licence.

everytime fuel goes up bus companies charge more 5 years ago i could get a bus to my local tesco store for 35p now its £1.40 and thats a single to go 1.5 miles it stinks, so in 5 years that a 105% rise.

everything in the UK has been on a lorry at some time you cant live without them yet the very product they need your saying we should increase the price so you want to pay alot more for everything? everything from the basics has been on a lorry without them we would have nothing at all period.

Go ahead then raise the fuel and lets see who does starve because i really cannot see the UK lorry drivers take much more crap from the clown of a prime minister.

Many of you moan that there are too many forign lorry drivers on our roads there is your reason fuel prices its simple as that gunna have to live with it arent we and i suppose i gotta find another job.

Thanks letum for the incite to rant :D

STEED 03-11-08 01:19 PM

Not long to go now and even I think I may have got my prediction wrong.

Konovalov 03-12-08 06:28 AM

Apparently the Govt are going to delay the 2 pence per litre tax increase on fuel. Why, how damned generous of them.

Jimbuna 03-12-08 07:47 AM

Probably looking to an election next year.

Generous!?
That's not generous! That means poorer police, poorer schools, hospitals and a under
funded army, pensioners that can't afford to stay warm, etc, etc unless they make up
the difference elsewhere.

Keeping fuel tax lower gives us cheaper fuel, but takes away the things that really
matter.

If they think they can get my vote that way they have another thing coming.

Konovalov 03-12-08 08:11 AM

The Govt have already had a significant windfall from the increased VAT and North Sea tax revenues against the rising oil prices. And so little of that is going back into transportation, public transport, and roads. And the Govt are only likely delaying an increase at the present.

STEED 03-12-08 08:18 AM

Waffle, waffle and more waffle from Mr Darling. Yes his surname is darling, for the benefit of the rest of the world.

Road pricing scheme coming in next year, the motorist hit again. The 2p rise in fuel has been put back to October. Note this will not stop the petrol cartel putting up the cost of oil.

And more Green Tax looks likely as Labour sets out to save the world from green house gases and global warming. What a load of BS, as if they could.

Good news for pensions a rise in winter fuel allowance which will be wiped out by council tax rise.

STEEDS VERDICT

BULLCRAP AND LIES

We are in the shat and Labour knows it.
Fiddle while England goes down the tubes.
