Followed by smoke trail, why is this?

I have noticed on the last few patrols I have been on, that after a while I seem to be followed by a column of smoke, it seem to happen after I make a few saves during the patrol. I just wanted to know if this was a bug, has it happened to anyone else, and finally I there a way to stop this from happening.

Just a bug. I'm seeing that in almost every save I reload, especially if I've been hit (even if all the damage has been repaired).
