Stuped Tanker Crew !!!!
 

I'm in the middle of the ocean and I run into a small merchant and a nice big tanker. :up: I sneak up on them and line up a nice double shot to take them out. One torpedo for the small merchant and two for the tanker.

All the torpedoes manage to miss or explode halfway to the target. Damn those sabotours !!! Anyway, now the two ships are running and zagging all over.:damn:

I'm able to get ahead of them and send a shot into the merchant blowing a big hole in it's side. Then to my right side, I hear a "BOOM !!!" I turn to look and the tanker has exploded, broken in half, and is now a firey inferno.

Since there was NO land anywhere near, it couldn't have been done by the Luftwaffe or the Lolwaffe. This left only two obvious conclusions:

1. The ship may have had a deck gun on board and it fired and hit itself in a sweet spot somehow. (Yet since I was submerged, I have no clue what he would be fireing at).
2. The crew intentionally scuttled the ship to keep me from getting their tonnage !! :damn:

All in all, I ended up wasting 6 precious torpedoes durring this encounter with only ONE hit. :nope: This is the worst mission I've ever been on. I have four torpedoes left and only three kills and I'm in an IXB boat that came loaded with a gazillion torpedoes ! My usually crack shot weapons officer is really not doing too well this time out. :stare:
Man.. I can't wait till the wind kicks up to it's default 15 meters per seccond ! :damn:

I had a similar experience when I started out with GWX... was rtigh in the middle of a convoy when they saw my scope and started firing... and BOOM the big 12kt tanke went to pieces....:damn:

Wow, **** happens.

I had this one time when I was on really bad storm and visibility was down to 50 meters.
When suddenly a huuuuuuuuge tanker came from the fog, and it was coming straight for me.

I was like "**** guys, we have tanker ramming us, fire our ****!"
and the crew was "what tanker, can't see **** herr kaleun" and I was like "oh screw you guys"

And then the tanker hit me, I didn't sink, but then other tanker came. It tried to ram me, missed and somehow managed to hit the other tanker that just rammed me seconds ago.

They got stuck on each other, and couldnt move, I think that was kind of my lucky day. I managed to sink both of them

I had a torpedo which failed to explode, somehow got stuck with the ship and blew up about ten minutes later sinking the ship.:o

I) once in stock SH3 had a magnetic torp bounce of and explode parallell to the target 0.5 s after the bounce... sunk it... :lol:

That's what "impact" pistols are there for... you know?:know:

not if you miss badly and hit the other one luckily :know: ... and of course an impact would not have exploded ... i think.... guess... errr

Anyone here ever had the "flying torpedo" happened to me 2 months ago launched a torpedo and it goes straight for about 500 feet the launches into the air and goes over the ship then explodes:doh:

This actually happened in WWI kind of... but to a U-boat. Arnauld de la Periere, commander of U-35, had just turned in for the night. A half hour later, he heard this loud "BANG". He rushed out to the bridge to see what was going on and saw the bridge crew standing there white as ghosts staring at a British submarine and a torpedo heading straight at them. Luckily the British captain had set the torpedo too low and it went under them allowing them time to escape.

Later, the captain found out from the watch crew that the didn't see the British sub until it was too late. Apparently the first torpedo had caught a wave just right, jumped out out the water went airborn, bounced off the deck of the U boat, slid off the other side and kept going.

I bet that watch crew had to clean out their pants that day.
