I'm in the same shape as you, and belive me, sh3 1.0 is NOTHING, ABSOLUTELLY NOTHING, compared with GWX 2.0 and 10 more must-have mods around. My machine can barelly run all of this, while in sh3 1.0 it was piece of cake. You are missing too much, if you enjoy sh3 enough, buy a new machine.

Nice to see your rank as"中国水兵"for I am Chinese. I know that mods for SH3 present a much higher requirement for computer performance. but to change a computer is by far not as simple as change a U-boat such as from Type VII to Type IX(at least in the game). I have seen some footages on the youtube website and I thing what makes the mods more performance-requiring are some other things such as the effect of sky, water, flames and smoke, rather than the increase in the number of ships available. That's exactly the reason why I am asking for your kindness to post me some single ship models rather tha a whole mod.I have three extra ships in the game(Duke of York or rather a King Geoge V in camouflage painting, HMS BC Hood, HMS BC Repulse)and those lovely ships seem not to have brought a single frame down from my game and you know that's exactly the ships I want the most. I simply want to add some new ships models in the game while keep the graphic and other staff of the game as it is in the original version. still waiting for your help....... as much thanks as I have to all of you (again sorry for my poor English)

Dont worry about your english, its very good. As for the mods, thats not only the eye-candy. The most important part for anyone here in this forum is REALISM! Every mod here has that purpose. In the original sh3 game, if you aim your deckgun to the mast of the ship and fire some shells, you will destroy it, coz the ship's life is based only on "hitpoints". You can hit the ship wherever you want, once the hitpoints reaches zero, she's down. On gwx (and other big mods), you can fire forever and nothing will happen if you are not hitting on the proper place. If you punch holes below the water level, she will have flooding and might sink due to that. And this is just 0,1% of all the realism that those mods bring us. Those are really game savers, I always thought that sh3 was an kickass game, but once I came across those magnificent mods I saw that the game really did stink, compared to what it is now. Really, you dont have a clue, and you won't until you try for yourself.
But of course, I understand your side, your computer just cant take any more mods. All I can tell you about those ships is that a new big ship mod is coming out, maybe in this month. You will hear about it when it's ready, theres a LOT of new ships. But again, Im not sure if it will work with sh3 1.0, once almost everything today is made "for gwx".
Anyway, good luck with that!

A lot of thanks to you for your explaination of the what make the mods here really captivating-realism. I know that you care more more about realisms of the game for the simple reason that you are the ultimate U-boat aces. Like in air combat games such as IL2-1946(My computer has kept me far far from Microsoft Flight Simulator Series)which also enjoys a high popularity for its unparalled realisms. The more sophisticated your skill is, the more realisms you demand from the game. Only those real ace pilots care about the tiny difference in the aerodamic performance of Bf-109G6 and Bf-109G14, As for those rookie pilots who even handles a Fw-190 in the same way as a Spitfire thus gets engaged in dogfights, the fascination of a new improvement in physic is undoubtedly less than that of some external staff as you have refered to as eye-candy such as a painting staring a famous ace, say Erich Hartmann. Another example is a racing simulator named F1 Challenge 99-02, every season saw the advent of a new mod, from RH2003, to the most recent carpack of 2008 wintertest. I dont't think those drivers care about the difference in engine horsepower, downforce or other sort of performance of the cars, they simply want to drive new cars with new aerodynamic packages as well as new paintings of new advertisements on the car even keeping the same speed and handling characteristics.
Back to the topic of our beloved SH3, I do care about physics, but not to the extent as most of my respected captains here do. I don't mind that the v1.0 measures damage in the hitpoint system, it serves me well because even under this system can I sink a C3 Cargo with 3AP shells followed by 6 or 7 HE shells (88mm)fired towards its fuel bunker under waterline or see it still afloat (though puffing smoke) after pouring 10 times that ammunition towards its upper building. I think that's enough in terms of realisms for the simple reason that my skill has not yet inspired me to go to extreme on the road of searching for a better physics performance, while my enthusiasm in naval battle has driven me desperate to enjoy more ships in the game. As far as I am concerned, to seperately install a ship into the game simple needs such two files(1:SH3 root/data/sea/***ship, 2:SH3 root/data/roster/***ship's nationality/***ship)if the ship is not equipted with aircrafts. I just need those files to add as many ships as possible to my SH3 and your post will be of great help to a captain almost in desperation.......thanks......
