Yeah, ebay sucks at this point. These guys don't know 1st thing about WW2 items. I already had several items that I was dying to buy and that got deleted for no apparent reason, when I made an inquiry for the reason they told me that it was some member complaining about being nazi items (they were all gasmasks, non German made). Once they even deleted a items I placed a bid on for the reason it was inappropriate to view, I was stunned because the item was just a Czechoslovakian camera. Lucky I could contact the seller directly and we made a great deal. Ebay is run by morrons.

Makes you wonder how such a personal item wound up on ebay. Perhaps the man had no heirs or immediate family, yet who would have taken the time to compile such a tribute unless they were fairly close to him? After 60+ years, there's no telling, but it has most recently been in the hands of someone who felt the need to part with it for whatever reason. In any event, someone now has an item for their bookshelf or coffee table they'll never see in someone else's house.
