1 little.. 2 little.. 3 little DDs...

Kaluens,

How many DDs in a screen does it take to make you puke?

I so wanted to Poll that... but I know how unpopular polls are.

It is 10-03-42, Grid AK7328. I have currently sent 8 Evarts Class DDs to the bottom at the cost of 9 eels. :o (I know I know, we are supposed to sneak through the DD screen, shoot and then run away b4 we see the torpedo impacts)

A call to the hydrophone station and lo an behold yet another DD..! :damn:

Sneaking through a 9 (faint) DD screen is certainly suicide (in broad daylight and lake water like seas). I mean whats the distance between DDs in a screen that big?
10 inches? A stones throw? My uncles shoe size?

Whats the max DD screen I can look foward too. After years of playing SH3 and GWX, I thought 8 was max? This is ghastly. I thought Black May was until, well... MAY! ..of 1943 even.

Where are you Wolfpack mod with 10 AI Uboats all able to fire torpedoes. :arrgh!:

Ok I feel better now....

In Real Life, it depended on the size and make up of the convoy (troopships and tankers got more, 6 coastal rust buckets don't get as many). As the war went on you also had huter killer groups, some just escorts, some with a escort carrier or two.

The HK groups would act independent and would attach and split themselves off from a convoy to hunt down a sub at leasure. They would also renforce a convoy escort screen if there was an expectation of a wolf pack about to attack.

I have noticed if a convoy is close to land, and you knock off an escort, a replacment is sometimes sent. There might have been an escort nearby and decided to come and help as well.

It would appear to be so, anyway since my last two careers ended due to horrible misfortune I figured a change would be in order and hoocie woochie has helped so far.
