"Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm" new game announced for April 2008 release
Not exactly naval but definitely maritime "Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm " is a forthcoming PC & XBOX 360 game based upon the Discovery Channnel show of the same name. With massive waves and realistic ships including a USCG cutter it looks pretty good and is almost there with an announced release of April 08.
check out the announcement & screenshots The game seems to have been conceived by the fishermen themselves which bodes well for its authenticity & atmosphere. |
Looks interesting :yep:

The 40ft waves will make me get this game :yep: about time some developer did this.

If this is done right it could be absolutely great (I doubt it will be done right). I am dying for games where not all the action is centered around shooting. Trawler sim / experience of arctic water / add in some strategy to find the crabs / I would buy this!
What makes me suspicious is the short time between announcement and release - usually not a good sign. And development for the 360 does not promise the gameplay we probably all hope for. |

This could be true as well. Let's hope you are right.

I think you'd need to play this in the freezer with someone throwing buckets of sub-zero salt water on you every few seconds to really get that authentic feel ;):D

I'm usually suspicious of movie & TV show based games but the description is encouraging. It looks like you can create your own fishing boat - an important feature to me. The Coast Guard missions sound like fun, and they're apparently taking the time to create a decent career mode, instead of just single scenarios.

I like the fact that it was the skippers themselves that initiated the idea for a game amd have been with it from the start insisting on authenticity. Let's hope that part's true and not just marketing B.S.
