[REL] ASW Air Layer
Compiled By: AkbarGulag, Donut.
Contributors: Captain_Haplo, Digital_Trucker. Aims of this MOD: Reduce the frequency of air traffic, while making encounters for those crazy/unfortunate enough to be on the surface during daylight feel the heat of an air attack. This includes, whole new Bomb and AirDepthCharge configurations that challenge your choice of depth and Updated Enemy Radar kits. Includes major restrictions on enemy Carrier Aircraft ranges. IJN air fleet now employs different weapon sets as the war progresses, to reflect a shifting ASW IJNAF doctrine. ASW All Versions ------------------ -Added ASW_Q1W1 Aircraft. -Added ASW_F1M_Pete Aircraft. -Added ASW_H8K Aircraft. -Added ASW_H8K2 Aircraft. -Added ASW_H6K4 Aircraft. -Added ASW_B6N2 Aircraft. -Changes to ALL Japanese Aircraft ranges, Val and Kate 350km, Zero 200km, all others to historic ranges. -Completed Aircraft Entry Dates. Planes should now become available at historic periods. -Modified Jap_AirCover.mis, this includes replacing all original bases with the new ASW Bases. -Changed MinHeight of all H6K aircraft from 50-75 metres. This is in response to constant AI Suicide. -Airstrike.cfg has altered enemy activity. [Logical Steps=35] -Changes to All Aircraft Max Speed entries to historical figures. All speeds in Knots. -Changed squadron number for all CV. Replaced H6K and Pete aircraft with the new ASW version on tender ships. -Added new Bomb and depth charges. -Changes weapons carried by all introduced aircraft. Historic weights used for all planes equiped in this way. -New Visual sensors for all Aircraft. -Dates for all Radar sets and weapons aim to follow a Historical timeline. All efforts taken for these settings. -Aircraft now 'see' the player at depth. Choice of dive depth is now more critical in aircraft evasion. 5.0 - 8.0 change (all versions) -------------------------------- -Re-geared and compressed the Library (ASW_GLOBAL control kit). -Refined Aircraft Detection Capabilities. 9.0 (All Versions) ------------------- -New Air Layer. Historicaly accurate. -Added ASW_C6N2 Aircraft. -Added ASW_B5N2 Aircraft. -Added ASW_A6M2_N Aircraft (Courtesy Lurker_hlb3). -Type N-6 Radar set implimented. 9.1 (All Versions) ------------------- -Slightly Tweaked Sensors. -Altered ASW_B6N2 to carry Air Dropped Torpedo (I do not know the behavior of this weapon. The change is made to maintain compatability, due to large MOD alterations to existing ASW Aircraft). 9.1 (All Versions) ------------------- -Brought up compatability with other MODS. This may break the specific missions in RSRD, where planes are scripted in. Treat as a Campaign mode MOD domain. This MOD is designed for SH4, the corresponding Patch Number will be listed below for each version, and is JSGME ready. More seemless versions may/may not appear for use in larger MOD's (See links below for available versions). You MUST apply this MOD after the version it is designed for. Only use in combination with multiple large MOD's if there is a specific Version for your combination. Roster.cfg Line Additions ------------------------ [Air] ASW_F1M_Pete=F1M Pete ASW_Q1W1=Q1W1 ASW_H6K4=H6K4 ASW_H8K=H8K ASW_H8K2=H8K2 ASW_B6N2=B6N2 ASW_C6N2_Myrt=C6N2 ASW_B5N2_Kate=B5N2 ASW_A6M2-N_Rufe=A6M2-N [Land] ASW_Airfield_IJAAF=ASW_Airfield_IJAAF ASW_Airfield_IJNAF=ASW_Airfield_IJNAF ASW_FloatBase_IJNAF=ASW_FloatBase_IJNAF ASW_Tender_IJNAF=ASW_Tender_IJNAF Modifying the Air Frequency ----------------------------- After some thought on a Heavy or Light Version, It is probably best for the user to decide their own frequency adjustment if this MOD is deemed to much or to little air traffic. Instructions follow. Navigate to (Mod Name)DATA\Cfg\AirStrike.cfg (be sure the mod is disabled), Using notepad, open the file then go to the last line. Alter the value 40 up or down. 10 being lots of traffic and 55 being very low. You could take it anywhere between 1 and 99, but we found over 55 to be near non-existent traffic. Logic Steps Between Air Sessions=40 Once you have altered this value to the desired amount of traffic, save with notepad. Re-apply the MOD, your air frequency will now reflect the value you entered. Thanks skwasjer for your S3D programme.. JScones for your JSGME. Both programmes we lost count of thanking during the compilation  A special thanks to Tater for all his help, even to the point of making us realise we should keep it simple :p Cheers mate, you were invaluable. Thanks also to the man of few words, Lurker_hlb3 ;) who saved us from falling over more than once, and amongst other things, is a pure genius. Good work, looking forward to giving this a good go.....if this air layer can be fixed then we have got quite a sim on our hands!

...OR, if one is using RSRDC should one install/enable this Air Layer Mod on top of (after) RSRDC, and allow overwrites....???? |
"Let's hear it for them Flyboys!"
Fantastic work!! AkbarGulag I salute you  I doubt very much if the new Add-on contains this level of work to the Air-Layer and so it'll probably be needed after that comes out on the 28th.

Sorry, but I can not find file:oops:
|
Can't wait to install it.
How about allied aircraft? Has anyone seen U.S. Navy and Marine squadrons patrolling the skies? I only ever run into IJN and JAAF aircraft. Radar should pick up everything, regardless of affiliation. |
Can't find it either

Currently "NOT" recommended on top of RSRDC (any version). There are changes to the "stock" SH4 Aircraft that will cause a CTD. These changes are IRT the .cfg files and the "weapons" loadouts. Because these weapons loadouts are used in some of the campaign layers, if you current mission comes into contact with the IJN aircraft with these “loadouts” it’s going to crash the game. |
Okay.

ASW_RSRD_v300_4.0 released
ASW_RSRD_v300_4.0 released
Has improved visual on all aircraft. Improved Bomb sets to 'Rock' your boat. Greater AirDC damage and radius. 2 new Japanese Airbases. This is in addition to many small changes, relating to dates and technical deployments. Including the dates for deeper AirDC's. There will be a new ASW_Standard version to follow. This will bring it in line with the improvement made to the RSRD version. A small note on RSRD version. Adding this air layer removes many aspects of the RSRD Campaign air works. Lurker has made a very comprehensive air layer with a lot of historical accuracy for the RSRD campaign. ALL the RSRD allied aircraft improvements will still be functional, you will be trading the Imperial Japanese air layer for this one. Quote:
