New realistic way to play SH3 GWX. (no time compression)

Hello dear sailors. I have invented a new immersive way to play SH3 with GWX. Maybe some of you have done that before. Yesterday at 15.35 i started my brand new patrol. So i synced my ingame time to 15.35 and started the patrol.

The thing is that i will not use time compression. So now my sub has been traveling almos 20 hours. It takes 5-6 days to reach my patrol area. The game will run 24/7 for me and i will live two alternate lives. One is real life doing my everyday stuff and other life is where i am commander of a german submarine. So the question is how can i play this game 24/7. Well yesterday i went to sleep i putted my submarine under water and in silent mode and let it to proceed hes course. Today morning i woke up. I checked if everything was fine. I surfaced to boat and reloaded batterys and new air and CO2. Just right before i went to work i dove the boat again in silent running. I hope that if any enemy appear my sub will pass unnoticed. So when i get back home i will surface the boat again and proceed my patrol on surface.

I have two computers on my table. The PC is for everyday stuff. I usually learn 3ds Max or Maya. But the second comupter witch is laptop is running SH3 24/7

So when i am home i use my PC and when i get some message or contact in SH3 i will jump to my laptop and start to make operations.

The only concern is what happens if my computer locks up or my boat will die under enemy fire while i am away. Then i load the game from last save point. (I save game in every 8 hours) and sync my ingame clock with TC. So my ingame clock will be the same time as in real life. And i pretend that nothing happened :D

The reason why i play this way is because i dont have lot of time to play SH3 constantly. Playing this way is a lot easier and more realistic. I jump out of my boots when i get a contact after 16 real life hour on patrol.

Oh yeah and one thing more. Tonight i slept with my earplugs on. The GWX underwater interior sounds are perfect. I really have feeling that i slept entire night in a submarine.

From now on i will post my daily logs of that patrol. (i know that i wont sink any enemy ships cause i am too noob to hit anything.)

And i play realism on 100%

EDIT: And i call this kind of gameplay "Captain SleepALot" Because my boat captain is virtually sleeping 16 hours every day and cannot make critical decisions. Every day i am about 6 hours behind my computer. So this 6 hours are the only hours when captain can call the shots :)

A great idea to make no-tc more practical!

This has been done before, goodluck mate. rather you than me lol.

No TC and no cigars make Penny go crazy......... :damn::damn::damn::damn::damn:

That means, given that I no longer smoke, if I were to lose TC I would then be totally crazy instead of semi-crazy. Rather you than me! lol

Good luck with it. :D

If you are playing at 100% realism

your personal hygene may be called in to question:

........freinds will stand away, family will worry....

...collegues at work may not dine with you....

...and if you stand still, people in the street may give you money.

Hi there and good luck!

There are several threads on real-time patrols, I find it amazing that people decide to do such a thing... but well.. I remember some people reporting that the crew fatigue model is not well suited for this type of gaming, because the crew goes tired all the time. If you run into that problem, there is a mod called sth. like Vitamin Crew Mod, which apparently works well (did not try it myself). Anyhow, the other threads are defo worth reading for you.

Do not forget to update your reports, and personally I would be interested to learn how long the game will run before the computer crashes.

Marry sinking :arrgh!:

Gotmilk, you do a great job !
Incredible.
If God bless us, I'll be back in 2013 to watch your score.

Very impatient.

There are players out there that have been doing this since day one they wont play the game any other way.

Really if your got the patience its probably the best way to play this game.

Good luck:up:

22.19 September 4 1939 U-48 - sent my patrol report. Location Grid AN 82. Destination grid BE31. Have to patrol that area for 24 hours. Today was a quiet day. My boat was in periscope depth from 08.00 - 18.30. Sadly the electric compartment crew got tired at 14.23 and left for break. So 14.23 - 18.30 my boat stayed in same position.(edited conf file so the crew does not get tired anymore) 18.35 surfaced to boat and read radio messages. Most of them was political mumbo jumbo reminding me to press on the attack. Two messages caught my eye.

1) September 3 21.13 From U-14 ATTACKED POLISH SUBMARINE FOUND WRECKAGE AND OIL

2) September 4 12.02 From FdU BY ORDER OF THE FÜHRER. NO HOSTILE ACTION IS TO BE TAKEN AGAINST PASSENGER SHIPS SAILING INDEPENDENTLY OR IN CONVOY

Next 30-50 hours is taking me to pass StraBe von Dover canal. Its a shallow water with heavy traffic and air support. I hope that i pass it with no problems. From there on its easy to pass on Atlantic. We see how it goes. In one hour i commant the sub to go periscome depth and rig it for silent running. I hope that the next 8 hours go without any problems while i am sleeping.

U-48 out.

Oh, yes. Almost three years ago now a game magazine had an article on a player who did just that.

And that is why I don't do it. To me, if you're doing something else then you're not playing the game, real time or not. Unless you save the game when you're not playing, and only run it when you can be there, then it's no different than using time compression. And if you only run it when you're there, it could take a year to do a six-week patrol

But don't let me be too discouraging. You do what makes you happy.

Yes thats the one thing i have to disable cause the crew does not change itself. So when i am away from my computer i will lose hours when they go to rest. I just "pretend" that they are tired and change them after i get back to my computer.
