Sinking a Light Ship - Anyone done this?

I was patrolling in the Bristol Kanal in U-2547. Yes, that's why I ventured so close to English territory...it's a type XXI LOL! Anyway I spotted a lightship with a coal tender sitting near by keeping it company. I sent 1 torpedo into the lightship, and when that didn't do the trick, I surfaced and finished it off and sank the coal tender with my .2cm flakzwilling machine guns. However, the lightship did not show up in the recognition manual (I thought I remembered seeing them in an older version of GWX??) AND I did not get credit for the sinking! I'm confused. My rationale is that it's my job to do anything I could do to disrupt naval and merchant shipping off the coast of England, and sinking a navigational aid like a lightship would be well within my job description as a Kaluen in the Kriegsmarine.... correct? Or was I wrong to sink the little lightship? Does that make me a vicious pirate? HAHAHA!! I like the sound of that!! :arrgh!: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Lightships helped U-boat navigation, too.

I sank them in a previous version of GWX. I did get credit for them, but they were stubbon little suckers to sink!:-?

I took one out w/ my deck gun on a British Isles patrol...took MANY, MANY waterline hits before she sank...

A pointless waste of ordnance IMO....and a virtual sitting duck http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...ies/pirate.gif

Well... it does kill the lights so you get nice complete darkness for your attack.

Took out the ships sitting around it, then went for the lightship. Stubborn blighter wouldn't damage, catch fire, or even list, let alone sink.:x

As was said before: complete waste of ammo.

One did try to warn one http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...es/whistle.gif

Yep tried it once, I think was my first patrol with GWX 2.0. Closed in to ~1000m at night on pretty rough seas, fired a spread of 2+1 torpedos, missed with all, pressed ESC and went to play IL2. ;)

Dowly, when I have a less than perfect night, I do the same thing, usually get shot down there too. LOL:D

Well...if it's night time and you hear a ship then surface..don't try to head to the lightship..its a trap! There will be destroyers awaiting your approach to it! Kill the bastards for pete's sake! They are helpful to us..but there is a little brit on the top of that boat who keeps walking he will report. And why doesn't he fall!
